I remember... my friend and I used to play cards all the time. We would play for hours on end even when we weren't finished with our assignments. He would always cheat and I would catch him at all times. He would then try to explain his way out of it, and I would not let it go, but the other members were all like who cares and i would be thinking,"Just let him cheat..."

I start to think back to that day when i was playing monopoly today. my players did not explain the instructions clearly and as a result we had been playing the game wrong. Someone came and corrected us and I was like gosh, why do people go through such dishonesty to win a game? I could care less. I just want to play for fun. I'll let you beat me if you like.

I play boardgames with friends and we have a bunch that we play. Both competitive and cooperative. There has been cheating over the years but mostly grabbing extra money in monopoly and that kind of thing. Never out right lieing or not telling all the rules.

well i just don't think that it's fair to the other players who have been honest and if you cheat, you ought to be kicked out of the game.

I can relate to what you're saying. I've played board games quite a few times with people that just had to win ~ and they'd do whatever they had to in order to make it come true.

That's a personality characteristic that I'm not real keen of. But, then again, we all are flawed. That's the way that I try to look at it.

Some people are just sore losers. Of course, young kids are known to cheat. And I give them allowances. But adults?

My sis and I agree to cheat in playing Scrabble. We allow each other to check our own words before posting and to keep handy lists such as "two-letter words" next to us. We justify it by saying we are learning new words in the process. By the way, Scrabble fans, "aa" is the first word in the Scrabble dictionary!

I used to enjoy board games... (games, not gambling)

I don't see this as cheating; I'd call it "house rules": all players have agreed to use the game components (board, playing pieces, etc.) in ways unintended by the game designer. This can result in a creation more manageable and fun than the original.

That's been the house rule in my extended family's Scrabble games since I can remember. We routinely look up words in the Scrabble dictionary before playing them on the board.

As a child I used to spend a week in the summer at my Grandmother's. We used to play cards and she would cheat. I always caught her and she would act so embarrassed. We would laugh and laugh. I loved that woman and proudly embody many of her talents and personality characteristics. She was a huge influence in my life. I do not cheat however,

i loved operation as a child though because it was 'noisy' i could only plat it when the axxhole was out! i had a game called pay day which i loved, and one called journey through europe, i loved all the funny names of places, now i know where they are when they are mentioned on the TV! As for card games i loved floaters, and although i never cheated i was very good at it.
