Instead of normal water being H 2O.......it's 2H 2O
Hydrogen atom has an extra neutron in it's nucleus

You are into biochemistry?

I just remembered from the dark ages of high school chemistry but had to look it up to make sure I remembered correctly......

Aside from the answer about deuterium, I'd say that heavy water is any water I have to carry home from the grocery store. I used to insist on only bottled water (reverse osmosis) for drinking and making coffee.

LOL....I can relate to that...or the bucket of water I carry up from the basement when I empty out the dehydrator....or the bucket of water I fill & carry out to the tree for my dogs to drink when I let them out.......that's definitely heavy water IMO also...wonder how much more heavy water would actually weigh if I were having to carry it

... or the water I carried in buckets to Dusty when he was alive. Did you know horses can drink ten gallons of water per day? That is heavy water.

We always used the 1/2 of those huge white barrels already in the stalls at the CA ranch & just ran the hose around to fill them up & clean them out with bleach.

However here in KY....I was carrying one of those heavy buckets of water....you know it's heavy when you go to lift up the bucket & it's so heavy you end up peeing Hate it when that happens.

Yeah and then you have to have 2 5-gallon buckets so you have one for each arm otherwise it twists your spine to one side.

I sure do miss Dusty and I don't have nearly as much upper body strength now as when he was alive and I was carrying 50 pound bags of feed and hay and all that water.

And how about dry ice? I was using it to make some interesting photos and thought dry ice vapor would be lighter than air and drift upward. Wrong! It is heavier than air and sinks to its lowest point. I had to do some quick changes for that photoshoot.

That's why they use it for ground fog in creepy movies/plays. The best technique is to use a crock pot and continuously heat the water; who knew you were supposed to cook dry ice for best effect? How To Make a Dry Ice Fog Machine - DIY-FX.com

Here's a link about heavy water:
Heavy Water - What Is Heavy Water? - Heavy Water Facts

Speaking of dry ice. I saw something so scary on the show Right This Minute, where they showed this video of a pool party. Someone got the bright idea to film people partying in the pool and they put large amounts of dry ice. Within seconds there was a thick fog and you couldn't see the people in the pool. Well dry ice and chlorine mixed together form a noxious gas and people started fainting in the deep pool. Bystanders couldn't see the ones under the water - several had to be taken to the hospital and one was in a coma from near drowning. Never put dry ice in large amounts in a chlorine pool.

Hmm, I saw a science show where they did that, put dry ice in a pool, didn't mention there being a problem.

Is it safe to swim in a pool with dry ice in it? - Yahoo! Answers

Actually, it is recommended to use carbon dioxide (all dry ice is) instead of using the "usual" hydrochloric acid to help clean pools?

Benefits of carbon dioxide as pH reducer in chlo... [Chemosphere. 2010] - PubMed - NCBI

I can't see myself importing/getting all that dry ice to begin with though; I hate when I get meat or something in the mail that is packed with it and you have to wait until it dissipates, etc.

I don't know Perna - all they said was it was a chlorine pool and some person wanted to film it with the dry ice and it formed a noxious gas. It was scary because they couldn't see the pool that was packed with swimmers. I wasn't good at chemistry so don't know why it happened.
