Question especially for those of us who are ambidextrous, but people with a strong hand preference can answer too: Do you have a tendency to be unorganized? I've heard it's connected to being ambidextrous. When somebody strongly prefers one hand or the other, the nervous system keeps using the same routes, and the person can think more clearly. When somebody like me is fully ambidextrous, the nervous system's "train" first has to decide what track to take, and then can take action.
My housekeeping is decent now, but it took me decades to learn to manage it. If I don't stay on top of things, clutter can get out of hand very fast. The reason is, if I'm looking at a room with only a few messy things about it, I can do a good job cleaning, but if I'm looking at an unholy dump, I 'm totally overwhelmed and don't know where to start, and I just stand there going, "duhhhh." That's why I had a very messy room when I was a kid, and was always getting in trouble for it, and also this causes problems when I try to work at a job. I have to stop and think about what I'm going to do before I jump in and do it, and some employers don't like that because I look like a slowpoke to them. Does anyone relate? |

I am mixed-handed, or cross-dominant - I do some things with my left hand, some with my right and some with both. I could probably become ambidextrous if I made more effort to learn skills with both hands. When I try something new I have to check which hand is best as sometimes I find I've been using the wrong one and the other is better.
And yes, I am disorganised! I make mess all the time even though I don't actually like mess. My house is a tip. I had no idea it could be connected to this. |

I am the same as tinyrabbit. When I was a child I tended to write left handed but my mom was a teacher and encouraged me to write with right so now I do. But I am left eye dominant so do some things with left hand such as shooting my handgun and some other things.
In some things I was organized such as my work environment. But my home is cluttered and I find it difficult to organize there. Interesting premise.
