I've been trying to think up words that no one else on this site has used.

I came up with rescind..... amongst a bunch of other words.... they had all been used before though Candybear

So far, rescind is the closest to the jackpot I am looking for, as you seem to be the only person who has used that word here Candybear

Just playing with words, no biggie

LOL Fuzzy -- I write for a living, I know all kinds of $10 words I don't use here. Want me to come up with a list for you, and we'll send everyone scrambling to the online dictionaries? Candybear

PS: My favorite word is "egregious." Bet you whatever's worth more at the mo, a pound or a dollar, that no one's ever used that in a post here!

lol, it looks like you are correct about egregious Candybear

One of my favourite words has been serendipitous for quite a while (more than 10 years in fact) Candybear

What are we doing? This sounds like fun!!!!!!!

One of my favorite words is facetious. Lovely word!!!

Also, one of my favorites is "loath". Loath has a much, much deeper meaning than hate, you know.

Jan, my dad's favorite word was "facetious." He used it so much that I used to tease him I would have it engraved on his tombstone. Unfortunately, he got buried in a military cemetery and they took care of what got to be put on there....I think he would have appreciated having "I was just being facetious" on there! LOL

LOL Jenn, another of my favorite words -- as you can tell by checking out the pictures of me in the gallery -- is "refrigerator." LOL! I just like the way it sounds!

I have been called "pedantic" on more than one occasion. Love that word. (I've been called facetious too for that matter...)

My trouble is I know plenty of the big words...but to me it is just as easy for everyone involved to use plain simple language...or am I just being lazy? or lackadaisical?

I find myself having to dumb it down a lot, because those words just come naturally to me -- but yes, usually better for all involved (in a general audience, anyway -- academic is another story) to keep it simple.

Did anyone watch Project Runway? On the reunion show, they had a segment of Tim Gunn using "big" words and said that nobody could understand him. I was totally perplexed by that, because they were all normal, everyday words to me!
