What would happen if we blew up the Moon? | Spaceanswers.com

Not a good idea, but fun to think about.

Bad things I'll wager That tidal thing is pretty important for one reason. I'd miss the moonlight for another.

We'd probably get hit by more asteroids.

Maybe it would be like the fireworks at the end of the world...wish I had an image to go with that. Then, would the earth's orbit alter? How dark the nights, ...and there is the cheese factor.

The coyotes wouldn't know when to come out & howl.......I wouldn't be able to find my mail box at night & would definitely trip over a lot more things in the dark.....but I'm guessing there would be so many other bad things happen that those little things I wouldn't even be thinking about.

Worst of all....my source of blue cheese would be GONE.....along with that silly smiling face.....& our oceans would go crazy now knowing how to handle their tides on their own.

You do realize that the moon is there to control our gravitational pull, right?

In fact, the moon controls the rotation of our Earth, as well as our life cycle.

Time controls our life cycle.

Our Earth spins at a fast but slow pace because of the moon controlling the gravity.

Now imagine our moon being taken away.

The moon is what slows down Earth's rotation.

Since our moon has vanished without a trace, Earth would be spinning a little faster than our current speed, and this changes our life cycle making everything on Earth having a quicker but shorter life.
