I volunteered to put on a professional gourmet turkey dinner to Erie, PA's homeless. Will be cooking at the Mental Health Association of Northwest PA then going to the battered womens shelter then hitting the street. I feel so passionate about the homeless and struggling people in my city. I buy food for them when hungry, put them on the bus, get them warmer clothes, or dry ones. I'm known throughout the city as "Shorts" because I own 2 pairs of long pants. The rest of my garb is shorts, year round.

That's fantastic, dillpickle! I recently heard of some stupid laws people have passed or tried to pass to basically make it illegal to be homeless. In South Carolina, a homeless person can be given two choices: Shelter, or jail. In New York City, Mayor Bloomberg made it illegal to donate food directly to homeless shelters. Google for more crazy crap!
But seeing this post reminded me of something I saw for Christmas, so this is a little off-topic; hope you don't mind me sharing this. At Books-a-Million, I saw a box with a (fake) pickle in it. It claims this used to be a Christmas tradition: Parents would hide the pickle in the Christmas tree, and whichever child found it first, I think they'd get a special gift. Strange, but possibly true!
