fascinating bit of trivia

I joined PC just over 2 years ago (10/10/04). At that time, I was member # 5905. I noticed that there are now 12,079 members. Wow has PC grown over the past 2 years....with an increase of 6,174 new members since I joined. It has more than doubled in the last 2 years. That says alot for PC , the place that many of us feel at home.

Thought this bit of trivia would be interesting.

That's a heck of alot of helloing for you, sky, isn't it, since you are an official greeter! Do you get an e-mail message every time someone new joins? Yeeesh, what a nightmare that would be.

Are these numbers normal? I mean new members joining up at such a fast pace (like October).

I guess Dr Grohol would have to tell us if it is "normal" or not for any site. This site has been growing by leaps and bounds this year especially. Certainly it has something to do with the link words the searchengines pick up from PC, compliments of docjohn? (I don't know the technical words, but if the words I first typed into Google, for instance, hadn't brought up PsychCentral, I never would have found this place.)

I sure hope it isn't because of an increase in needy ppl, but I'm glad we're here to welcome them.

I found PC by search engine 2 years ago, so whatever is working now was working then too. That is alot of work for you _Sky, our official greeter. By the number of people posting, it looks like there are quite a number of the people who are still active.

That would be an interesting number to know also is the number of active members we have this year.

It seems like this site hits on all the major psych illnesses & issues. I know I was lucky because I came here dealing with one thing & ended up going through a trauma right after I joined. I didn't understand what I was experiencing & everyone here sure helped me identify what I was feeling so I could try & get help from my pdoc & psychologist.

DocJohn is doing a great job here & also has great admin & mods& greeter to delegete jobs to. It takes a great team to keep this size site running smoothly.

expect an influx of new members over the next few months, we are comming into SAD season and it always picks up around this time of year
