Every year, like many towns around New England, our town holds actual trick or treatin' during a different day than Halloween night... So it's tonight, but I rarely know these things until the first group I see is walking around the neighborhood.

I had to run out to get bags of candy (we can't keep candy around the house -- too tempting!). Now they come to the door every 5 minutes or so for the next 2 hours, some groups of really cool and interesting costumes, others of bored teenagers, almost nearly all very fun and "into" the holiday.

I love Halloween. It reminds me of my own childhood.

I miss Halloween. We don't live on a good block for it. It was huge where I lived in Philly (even with more traffic and less safety). Used to be my favorite holiday.

But, my trick is to buy candy that I don't like... that way I don't eat it.

Have fun!

Every year I think I'm gonna dressed up for the ocassion, but I have no idea what bottons this time of the year pushes in me, I can't bring myself to even wear a wig, it's pathetic.
At least my daugther has the best costumes in town, she is a fairy this year and she is the cutest thing!

We have our Trick or Treat Tuesday night from 6:00 to 7:30. I love passing it out at my dads. He is on a well lit street. And alot of kids come that way. The onlything that gripes me is that we've got those bored teens.. 13 and up.. ( I dont think its necessary to be Tor T'n at that age.) Sorry .. I may be a bit old fashioned.. but thats how I was raised. But I do have fun watching the lil ones . I sometimes dress up and sometimes I dont. I have my pumpkin outfit yet. so I might this year just for the fun of it. If I do .. your sure to get a pic!.. I gotta find that other pic of me when I was dressed up as a California Raisin.. I put purple lipstick all over my face!!! I mean all over it!!!!! It itched for days!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!!

Maybe that is why I enjoy Halloween. It also reminds me of my childhood.. Way back then, we did not have store bought costumes. We would get mother's and dad's old clothes and paint our faces with makeup. Since I was raised in the country in a tiny community, everyone knew everyone. So it was safe, even for me, to run about tossing corn at windows and soaping a few windows.. My sister and brothers were older and did not always like me hanging around them, esp when they would toilet paper neighbors trees, etc.. Oh yes, getting past the haunted barn was even a challenge for my older brother and sister to get past.. Man we would all runnnn sooooo fast. Scared to death, sometimes close to tears.,, we continued on... lol...... Candy everywhere.. We always had a great time on Halloween.

Ack! I'm running out of candy already... we live in a popular trick or treatin' neighborhood, houses real close together, ideal for this holiday. I always start handing out twosies or even threesies, then I end up giving just one, as I always do, forgetting how many kids actually come out this evening.

So much candy!! So many kids!! I think there were twice as many as last year.... I should remember this for next year, but I never do.

HA! Doc John very funny.
I went trick or treating a few times and sometimes in the past years people had parties which are a much safer yet fun way to celebrate.

How cool, Doc John.

We just went and got the little man his costume. He wants to be a skeleton because neighbors have one hanging from their porch and he was really scared at first and overcame it and actually touched it! I thought it appropriate. Halloween - Trick or treatin'

Our begger's night is actually on Halloween this year. It's supposed to rain. Wish us luck that it doesn't!

I've got the candy ready, but after reading this post, I think I should go for more. Halloween - Trick or treatin'

How fun! Thanks for sharing!

KD

Oh, I LOVE Halloween!!! I have my house and yard all decorated! I was disappointed that some of my Halloween lights stopped working (I've had them for about 6 years). But, it still looks pretty cool in my yard. We are in a subdivision that's well lit, so I know there will be a ton of trick-or-treaters! I can hardly wait to take my own kids out to trick or treat! Tyler's costume is Spider Man, and Abby and Cammy are cheerleaders. Halloween - Trick or treatin'

when I was a child we used to trick or treat all over the city...we used pillow cases to fill up with our goodies and then went home half way through and went back out and filled them again...wow what great days! No hassles...never afraid of anything! You could do that back then...Now kids have to be careful! too bad!!!

I LOVED Halloween as a kid. We too took pillow cases they held more and didn't break. Sometimes they would be full, we would go back home empty them and then go back out till 11 pm...They didn't have a TIME set wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back then ..you just went out at DARK and stayed out till the porch lights went out

I won't be giving treats this year. The town center right behind my community is holding a fanfare for all the kiddos so there won't be any here. Fine with me Halloween - Trick or treatin'

Before my service dog went deaf it was a fatiguing night, as he alerted me to each ring of the doorbell.

We have a neighbor who walks on 6' stilts, that's always kewl.

I think as a teen it was more of a mischief nite rather than halloween... you know, papering houses, trees and mailboxes? Of course not ME, but... Halloween - Trick or treatin'
