Facebook people are too busy to talk.

I don't think the two can really be compared. I would never go on facebook and give a summary of all of my illnesses. Not ever!! This is where I come for information, insight, understanding and gain insight and strength from other posts.

I'm not trying to take away from PC but it feels like the support sites have become big and scarce. I remember when I started using them, the web was full of smaller groups you could use when you didn't want to be at a really big site, and most of those are gone. I blame FB.
I really miss how it was like 10+ years ago. I remember having friends "all over the web".

I have a couple of real life friends in face book. I use it as a tool to communicate with them. Mostly I use FB for games. I love farmville2.
![]() PC is a different type of site. I like PC for the more serious issues. I don't really think you can compare the two sites. |

I'm on facebook more often because I have friends I can relate to on a social level such as sharing my instagram pics and sharing memes. I'm on here a lot too, but mostly for psychological stuff that I don't share with my friends. Most of my friends do not know I have these disorders.
I view them both differently so I could not compare them, I like both and use both daily for different reasons.

I remain with PC because I have made friends here. I left facebook because the people on it are already in my life anyway and I did not appreciate the advertising and manipulation of my personal data that was resulting on facebook. I felt violated by the operators of the website and as if I was being "watched" by other people out of my control. I did not feel "secure" even with my privacy settings options, so I dropped it. The fact that there was not an option to delete the account was disturbing enough. I have never felt my privacy is violated on PC by the risk of employers watching me or marketers tracking my data here. This is a comfort. Although I have real life relations, my "friends" are on PC.

Never had a FB account. Will never have aFB account. My employer requires all employees to allow them access to FB accounts. I have no interest in having Big Brother watching what I post about. I verge on paranoia about not letting folks in my 3D life know about PC. This is a place where I can let my hair down and talk about what's really bothering me.
Also I work with teens and 'tweens. The idea of them gaining access to an account I might have at FB scares the poo out of me! |

They serve two entirely different purposes, so it isn't particularly valid to compare the two.
PC is where I come specifically for mental health issues. I don't generally find it to be a very positive environment and it can be very triggering at times. I don't really know the people here, so I don't feel a very close emotional attachment to PC. That said, I do appreciate what I learn here a great deal. I think I find PC as more of an educational site. Facebook is where I go more for interaction with my family and friends in real life. I have a large extended family, and Facebook is the way we keep up with each other on a daily basis. My friends, both current and from years gone by, also keep in touch regularly and I enjoy keeping in touch with them. I don't find our interactions fake or purely positive as so many people complain. Perhaps that is because I am careful to limit my Facebook interactions to people I truly know in my life as opposed to opening my page up to everyone who comes upon my page. We are very honest and real about both the joys and challenges in our lives, and that is what true family and friendship is about. If I have to choose which is "better", PC or Facebook, in my case I would definitely say Facebook, but they really are two entirely different sites. |

Haha, my opinion probably doesn't count, as I don't have FB, but I'd have to say PC- it seems to be the concensus- and according to all the flack I've heard about FB compared to the understand and empathetic crowd here at PC- I definitely have to say PC is better.

I definitely prefer PC. Only here can people answer questions about things I've wondered about for years. And though I get support on things on FB. I feel safer here.

For me PC is much more real than Facebook.....I mean that on Facebook people can tend to bull**** a lot. The very idea that there are those that aren't genuine on PC is abhorant to me, and I think(hope) they are few and far between.

You really can't compare the two. However I prefer PC because I'm not judged. When I get sick, I post on FB and people look at me like a nut, people here are supportive.

All the sites have its Ups and Downs.
I do not have real friends here as well as in FB.

PC. I don't mind listening to people vent about mental health issues. I don't have any friends except one so on Facebook it's basically just ex classmates that I don't talk to and don't like. Except for the one friend that I do like. But still. I can be honest here. I don't really have anything to say on Facebook.

Facebook seems so judgy to me. Yes it's great and an easy way to communicate with people, but it focuses on the face of the person, the pictures they put up and the comments they leave, but I suppose it was never supposed to be a place to get help as such. Basically I never go off fb feeling positive, I always feel unwanted and unnoticed, but I've never felt that here, this site has quite often been life saving. This site is something I'm thankful for!

Well, given I actually talk to and genuinely like FAR more people here than I do on Facebook, definitely PC.
My biggest mistake on Facebook was letting it get spread around the church I go to...I have to process and screen everything I post so much that it's at the point I don't bother with the stupid thing anymore. I read it. That's about it.

PC for sure! I don't like Facebook!!! Too many show offs on there bragging about how perfect their lives are. Facebook seems so fake to me. On PC people talk about real life stuff. That's important to me. PC has helpful information, people who can relate to what I'm going through, and support when needed. PC hands down!
