Renters .. I know, I sound like a grouchy old lady.... But I'm really not a grouchy old lady.

Bottom line is, male renter, "he is 27" doesn't have the rent money. His parents paid his rent while he was taking a few classes at the local university. He has a degree in history and guess he can't find a job so he took a few classes so he could teach...He also found a way to cash the rent checks his parents send. AND "hello" for whatever reason the renter doesn't have the rent money and no check in the mail...and classes are over........ and....it is the 10th of January........

Well........renter worked while he was taking 3 classes... yet he has no money and we think he is back on the drugs... prescription drugs he buys off the street....He has been stealing food again until I started going to the kitchen
when he comes downstairs ...is hard to steal, no matter how good you are, when eagle eyes are watching....

SO AJ says next month if the check isn't here... AND I SAY "what" next month, we need to worry first about "this month" and why are you falling for
his lies again........ He lied to you for a full year and he is doing it again now...
SO AJ starts yelling at me.......... and I just retreat to my bedroom... I don't want to fight... And I don't want AJ to be screwed over.......And I know AJ is stressed. and I don't want to be pointing my finger at AJ , but I will point it at the renter.. shrugs shoulders.....

The renter still tosses his cigg butts in the yard... I have a large piece of wood and a stick to make a sign... IT will say in giant letters, "HIS NAME", stop throwing your cigarette butts in the yard.......ANYONE driving down the street will be able to read it...........sometimes when you ask someone 25 times and they "blow you away", the option to broadcast to the world what he continues to do, is very appealing

I just don't know why AJ doesn't see it.... Maybe he does and he doesn't know how to deal with it? I just know the renter and AJ were in the same fraternity............The renter lived here a few yearsrs back... Was on prescription drugs..... Was like pulling eye teeth to get the rent money... HE lied so much that if the truth smacked him in the face he wouldn't know it.....HE went home for over a year and "cleaned up"... Came back.. Only reason AJ let him back was because his parents were paying his rent...He is back to his old tricks........Started cashing the check his parents sent for rent... is working yet has no money... might be back on drugs... but AJ isn't in the position to be playing games with rent and he has a mortgage to pay.............oooo does it ever get easy............Guess I talk too much...

Better yet, I think the sign will say.............. I, RENTERS NAME, throw my cigarette butts and trash in the front yard!

Can you leave? Leave AJ to deal with it alone?

Don't think I will be leaving... lol... Good try..... I need for AJ to see that his "friends" are taking him for a ride... He isn't a "charity" house for those who
use drugs....My deal is, is your choice.... Pay your rent or buy your drugs. But if your choice is to buy your drugs to paying rent, is time for you to be moving out........................... or buy food or buy drugs.. if you buy drugs don't expect me to feed you........ again, your choice............ Geesh the renter is stealing his own rent checks his parents are sending.... How big of him?

AJ isn't "wealthy" enough to let these folks "USE" him..........THe renter doesn't care.....He will take advantage without blinking an eye... Geesh, he throws his dirty q-tips in the driveway........let alone his cigarette butts and trash....

You should have seen the renter almost piss his pants when I took puppy for a walk and puppy was eyeing the renter's car tires for a pee....... Renter almost pissed his pants... I was hoping puppy would have peed on his tire... See, folks don't care about "other's belongings", but you step on theirs and they go bolistic. Is like saying, You don't count. I count.. Just don't mess with my stuff.... I can trash yours .. Just don't touch mine.......I am important and I care about Me and only me... You mean nothing ...

Take a druggie in once, shame on him, take a druggie in twice, shame on you.

Why is it AJ's decision to keep the druggie? What would be better than making a stupid sign is to dump all of his belongings in the front lawn with a note that says, "When you pay your share, you get to keep your share, but until then, the lawn is your new bed. Sprinklers come on at 6am."
Thanks for this!

WOW you are one tough lil lady, DRSkipper.. You need to come here and straighten this mess out.. I like you...

OH God, you made me smile ...... I wrote this long post and deleted it because what you said is what should be done and no matter what I write, things aren't going to change.. I just hope AJ deals with it now and not later .. Because it will only get worse...

Oh , just to add... AJ let the renter back because he went home for over a year and "cleaned up his act" as he stopped taking oxycontin... AJ wanted to
give him a second chance.. We all deserve a second or even sometimes a third chance.. That is if one is willing to try.. Looks like it was a mistake to
let this guy back.......Guess old habits caught up with him...........

That is a sad and frustrating position indeed, radio_flyer! I'm sorry. It must be pretty hard for your son to let go of the guy that he once knew & see the druggie that he's actually become instead.

((((( hugs ))))) I hope that you or your son don't get hurt by his "friend".

Guess I am not sure why you have no say, or are powerless to act in this situation.
AJ will see what he will see, not necessarily what you "need him to" see. Whose house?
Think there is a hx here I don't know....

I don't see it either.
If AJ is responsible, let him handle it. He is old enough now to make his own mistakes (if you would allow it anyway). If you are responsible: do what you think is best to do.

Thank you shezbut.... Yes it is sad. Watching a well educated, handsome young man messing up his life with oxycontin... It seems that stuff is so easy to buy on the streets. That is why he never has money, buying off the streets is very expensive.....

AJ used to get very upset with his friends that use opiates. AJ has tried talking to this guy.. Well not this time, but the last time he live here.. I don't know what to say... But I do agree, it is a sad situation....And it did hurt AJ to watch his friends. Now it seems he is just angry with them...There is nothing he can do...

I think you misunderstood my original post. AJ is dealing with the situation. I only let AJ know when this guy has his window wide open, as he did this morning, and it is 24 degrees outside...AJ will call him. I will say nothing to the renter.... Electric has gone up $100 and it doesn't help when all the windows are wide open and the heat is on...

As for the rent... AJ again is responsible. I have nothing to do with the rent.
MY post was a mother talking out loud. Because I was worried AJ would give in to the renters excuses.. But it looks like AJ is on top of it. Wipes brow.. He has collected most of the rent...

Also AJ made it clear if he smells or even sees any drugs of any kind in this house, the renter will be told to leave immediately... AND no second chances on this one...

SO in the long run, AJ is handling everything... I was just fussing out of concern. Maybe posting someone might, just might have good advice I could pass on to AJ........... Other than that, AJ handles the renters...because it is AJ's responsibility.....Maybe posting eased my mind...

I hear ya John.... As I mentioned before, my post was just a mother fussing and worried.... AJ does handle the situations with the renters...Just sometimes when dealing with friends, we sometimes don't see when they are screwing over us.. And I was talking out loud to easy my mind...

Thing is, AJ did "see it"...AND mama didn't know... ANYway, mama vented here. And AJ collected the rent..
