on wednesday this week i will be getting 2 new pets, it is a pair of baby corn snakes, my friends dad is building me the vivarium and it should hopefully be ready on time,

i still have all the heat mats and lights from when i used to breed them and if i need anything else ebay is just a click away.

to make sure the landlord doesnt find them i have designed the vivarium to fit in the top shelf of 1 of the wardrobes in my room and have replaced the top of the wardrobe with clear plexiglass to allow light in when the doors are closed

no ej i am still in the same place, i dont have to appear at the police station to face charges of abh til next wednesday so the landlord hasnt got a leg to stand on in regards to eveicting me until then, i think the charges are going to be dropped has the police have not yet interveiwed the only witness, and if i dont get charged the landlord cant do a thing.

on the plus side i love snakes and used to breed them when i was married, i love ferrets also but they are harder to hide in a single room lol

Enjoy the snakes.

I have a corn snake called Slinky (he came with the name). At about 5 or 6 years old, he is getting nice and big now.
We also have a Red-Tailed Boa Constrictor called Seth.

Our pet snakes bring us a lot of joy. Just this afternoon my son and I put together a little "snake park" for a school project, using soil and leaves from the garden and plenty rubber snakes.

Let us know what there names are.

Mellors,

You are a "Grand Member" with your wit and personality.

I can't believe how much I'm dreading the holidays, and it's not even Nov. 1st yet. Any comments?

Hugs,

EJ

yay i picked up my new babies today they are stripped redish brown and cute has buttons, i have them on the heat mat to warm them up at the mo has i had to bring them home on the london underground, they certainly attract children and curious women, give it an hour and they will be "playing out" when they have warmed up.

they are to young to determin sex at the moment but when they are old enough i will name them.

Snakes? Well, to each his own, I guess. All I want is a puppy, not that I don't like my kitties, but a cat and a dog are quite different... Good luck with those snakes, though. new pets

Two of my boys always had snakes in the house. Real quick, I learned to stop being afraid of them. The first snake to come into our house was called Spike and for a good reason, too. OUCH! LOL

My youngest boy has had everything from gopher snakes to California King (that he picked up on the road) and last I heard, he had either one or two Hog Nose? Is that the name? They have a hard, inverted V nose the better to dig with. He's had or has a couple of beautiful constrictors.

So you've got a friend that wants to watch the gore, eh? I watched a few times but I wound up feeling more sorry for the little rodent than glad the snake was eating. LOL Maybe my boys didn't do the best job of cleaning the vivarium, but it got pretty stinky sometimes. Weird! You wouldn't think of snakes stinking! At least, I wouldn't have! new pets

My houngest also had a ferret and the old man has one now. Cute but talk about STINK!!! EEWWWW I had to ask to have the ferret taken out to the RV because my cat didn't like it at all! The dog, of course, was a whole different story! She'd lay next to the cage and whine wanting to play with it... I think! They would sniff each other's nose and only once did the dog put her mouth on it. I don't know what her intentions were, but the old fart didn't take any chances. LOL

Good luck with your new pets, Mellors. I know you'll have hours of enjoyment with them. new pets

well i fed my babies yesterday for the first time and i have never seen a grown man cringe so much, i thought my friend was going to pass out when he watched them feed, he declined the offer to feed one and it took a while for him to recover, he will get used to it in time lol

i got the snakes sexed yesterday at a local shop, i have a male and female, i cant breed them together has they are brother and sister, so i will hold off till they are a bit older and match them up with mates.

i decided on the names the female is called temazepam and the male diazepam, rather fitting i think has the female sleeps a lot, and the male is depressed looking all the time, he puts his head on the glass, chin first, and stays there for hours staring at the roof of the vivarium,

anyway pics will follow shortly, am still trying to negotiate the use of my mates dads digital camera, hes a stubborn old coot but i will win him round next time his pc breaks down lol

Well, Mellors, I am happy for you and surprised that so many of you aren't afraid of snakes. I am so scared of them. I guess it's because I was raised to be afraid. Where we lived as I was growing up, we had poisonous snakes, so Mom would always tell us to be careful when we played outside or we would get bit.
Enjoy your new addition.
Linda

we too have a poisionous snake native to the uk, it is the adder, noone has been confirmed killed by one of these of over 20 years, you hear them before you see them, i used to see a lot in the counrty where i was born and raised has a child but like you never went near them, i wouldnt keep poisionous snakes myself even though i have been handleing snakes for 10 years 1 mistake with them and your toast, i would rather take my chances with a constrictor.
