So my contract is up in May and I'm also eligible for an upgrade at the same time. I have an iPhone 4S right now. I was considering going with StraightTalk but I hate their phones and I don't want to pay to get my iPhone jailbroken. I do have an old Droid2 but it's not the best either so I don't want to jailbreak that one. I was just thinking of renewing my contract with Verizon or going to a different company and switching to the Galaxy S4 or S5 or something similar. I don't think I want to stay with Apple products because my boyfriend has convinced me that open source is much better. Should I switch companies AND phones?

I don't think you would like my suggestion, but for me, I just like basic things. I don't need all the bells and whistles of new technology. However, my kids would not be happy with a basic phone, lol. Then again, perhaps I am just not a technically smart person, hahaha. I'm older, tho...I remember those gawdly huge cell phones when they first came out, lol. The dinosaurs of the cell phone family

I would recommend that you go try them out. The specs say one thing but being user friendly in the way that you want is another thing for what you like or don't. Then compare plan rates to get the best deal for the phone you want, especially if your contract is up; it is definitely worth shopping around. Sometimes though you can save money by staying with the same phone/plan but being out of contract. Check into this too.

I have a Galaxy S4 and wouldn't trade it for anything on the market right now. It comes out of the box at about 70% of what you want, but you can tweak Android phones to get them to about 90% of what you want. An iPhone is about 80% of what I would want, but they aren't as customizable.
Right now, the S4 is the big dog on the block.

I too have an iPhone 4s, and wouldn't trade it. My contract was up maybe a year ago and I continue month to month. My wife also has an iPhone. She got a Galaxy about a year ago, kept it 3 days, and returned it for the iPhone.
If you like what you have, why obligate yourself to a new contract? |

I use the latest iPhone but that is because I'm an Apple fanatic. Absolutely love though along with all my other Apple products. But agree it just depends on what you like best. Go try them out.
