I want to know what people think about this...
So one of the tv shows that I watch has posed an interesting situation for next week's episode. And I would like to know what others have to say. A lady has been put in an interesting dilemma and she can only choose one! Do you save your sibling or your child?? Her sister and her daughter have been taken hostage and the kidnapper is forcing the lady to choose who lives. I really can't 'weigh in' on this because I have no kids and am not close to my family AT ALL! And it is a question that can really get a person thinking. So I want to know, what would you choose to do?? |

Probably kid, since parents usually seem to say their children mean the world to them. Although if the kid was a brat, maybe I wouldn't want them back, and could strike a deal for my sister to pay me to choose her. ![]() |

I'd have to say "sibling" cause I have no children and I love my sibling very much!

My child(ren) is a lot more important to me than my brother (whom I strongly fear & resent) and my sister (I love her, but I need limits with her). So, choosing to save my child was a "no brainer" for me.

It was an easy answer for me, ... unfortunately, my sister is not a very pleasant person who hasn't given me the time of day, so, ... had I a child, they would indeed come first, and TBH, even if my sister weren't who she is, I'd still prioritise my child; isn't that the way of the world? I'd like to think, had I decent sister, that she'd have understood.

I have been completely rejected by my grown children. My siblings are too busy to give me much attention. So I voted that someone else make the decision.

I'm saving my daughter, I love my brother but it's not even close...

I don't have children.
If I did, in all seriousness, I don't know. I would prefer to cross the bridge when I come to it.

I'm not a mom, I'm a Dad. But seems to me just by having children, you become responsible for their safety. So for me it's a no brainer. Definitely save my kid. Sorry sis- but you know mom would save you...

I don't have any brothers or sisters, so it would difinitely be my daugther, who I would choose over anyone including myself. She is my shining star.

I would have to say sibling too because I have no children. The closest I have to children are my dogs. I would hate to see them go, but I guess if I had to choose, I'd very sadly choose for my brother to remain alive.

Knowing my sister, she would order me to save my child. I think it is a natural tendency of healthy parenthood to protect the younger because the older have lived more life already. The child is just starting. I would save my child. FYI this is IF the situation was as told. As it is in reality, I already lost my sister to illness in 1996. Her son is in our lives.
