I heard about the website when another member of the DBSA (Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance) Board told me about it, and then I saw the community section from there.

I think I also found it on Google, but I'm not 100% sure as it was many moons ago.

I googled about my romantic feelings for my therapist and it was the first one that popped up.

I was researching what was causing me to have voices when I came across this website.

I was very hesitant when talking to members on here.

I was a member of our sister site, NeuroTalk, and I happened to notice Psych Central and thought it sounded interesting.

I understand you, I too was very hesitant about revealing my OCD here...sometimes I'm embarassed also now. But the more I stay here the more I realize that people here understand me and I don't have to worry about being judged.

I was researching about some different mental illnesses/disorders that some of the clients I worked with were diagnosed with. I wanted to understand how these illnesses might affect them so that I could give them the best support I could give.

So yeah, it was through google....the one and only google. lol

That was back in 2005. Boy how time flies eh? Seriously though, this place has been so helpful to me in my difficulties through the years as well. I've found caring and compassion from folks who understood what I was going through and some folks, even if they didn't quite understand it, were more than supportive towards me. You can't hope for more than that.

to all! I'm glad you are here!

I believe I was part of a different chat site for mental health concerns. I guess I lost track of that site and when I searched the net...this came up (around 2009) and then I did my sanity profile...which I have not looked at since - guess I should check that out. Started receiving the newsletters.
Started w/the forums in April 2014. Glad I finally did!!
You've been helpful and it's nice to have a place to get rid of what is in my head.

I found Psych Central when I was researching more about depression. When I took a few quizzes, read articles, and met some really nice and interesting people, I then made an account!
