An interesting presentation, pachyderm. Since you offered no point to discuss, I will confess I found the tone a bit off-putting and be gone.

Where do you find these things? This is priceless! Thank you so much!

I interrupted my reading of it to post this, but now the Lassie episode where they are going to move to Australia just came on... what to do, what to do?!

Isn't there a short, Cliff's Notes version? I don't have time to read all that, LOL!

Here's what Google brings up: "the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment."

And this is from Merriam-Webster.com:

1
: the state of knowing : knowledge as distinguished from ignorance or misunderstanding

2
a : a department of systematized knowledge as an object of study <the science of theology>
b : something (as a sport or technique) that may be studied or learned like systematized knowledge <have it down to a science>

3
a : knowledge or a system of knowledge covering general truths or the operation of general laws especially as obtained and tested through scientific method
b : such knowledge or such a system of knowledge concerned with the physical world and its phenomena : natural science

4
: a system or method reconciling practical ends with scientific laws <cooking is both a science and an art>

Perhaps within the week. I am rushing through this forum right now. I had read the beginning, and I admit it sounded promising.

What an awesome link! I like the little poem they included:

A centipede was happy quite, until a toad in fun
Said, "Pray, which leg comes after which?"
This raised his doubts to such a pitch
He fell distracted in the ditch
Not knowing how to run.

Quite witty. Interesting to note it was a lecture in 1966.
