An interesting presentation, pachyderm. Since you offered no point to discuss, I will confess I found the tone a bit off-putting and be gone.

Isn't there a short, Cliff's Notes version? I don't have time to read all that, LOL!
Here's what Google brings up: "the intellectual and practical activity encompassing the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment." And this is from Merriam-Webster.com: 1 : the state of knowing : knowledge as distinguished from ignorance or misunderstanding 2 a : a department of systematized knowledge as an object of study <the science of theology> b : something (as a sport or technique) that may be studied or learned like systematized knowledge <have it down to a science> 3 a : knowledge or a system of knowledge covering general truths or the operation of general laws especially as obtained and tested through scientific method b : such knowledge or such a system of knowledge concerned with the physical world and its phenomena : natural science 4 : a system or method reconciling practical ends with scientific laws <cooking is both a science and an art>

Perhaps within the week. I am rushing through this forum right now. I had read the beginning, and I admit it sounded promising.

What an awesome link! I like the little poem they included:
A centipede was happy quite, until a toad in fun Said, "Pray, which leg comes after which?" This raised his doubts to such a pitch He fell distracted in the ditch Not knowing how to run. |

Quite witty. Interesting to note it was a lecture in 1966.
