So next week I'm going to be bleaching my hair blonde, has anyone done this before and have any idea how safe it is?

I'm using this Hair Bleaching/Dye

Then about a week later I'm using this Hair Bleaching/Dye

Most of my teenage years were spent either bleached or black lol

I had issues with the bleach simply because of the colour of my hair. The red would always come through and I'd end up straw coloured.

Since you are doing it yourself I would suggest a test patch to make sure you have no major allergies. What is a patch test and how do you do this test?

Otherwise probably try not to do it too often. I found my hair tended to get rather 'crispy'.
Thanks for this!

I have been bleaching mine for 10 years until I finally decided to go back brown. I've had SO MANY hair disasters. One thing I've learned is to avoid "Ash" tones of blonde, then trying to bleach it a none ash tone resulted in me having a weird blue-grey shade of hair!!

Blue Bird, why are you going to use two products a week apart? I would think that would "fry" your hair. Read the label on the products you are planning to use to be sure it's safe.

BeteNoire has a good suggestion about trying a patch test first. Better to have a small bit of skin react to the mixture than find out you are allergic after spreading it all over your head!

I use hair color, but have never tried blonde. My hair is naturally red and bleaches strawberry blonde on it's own when I go in the sun.
Thanks for this!

I dont think dying your hair two times in two weeks is a good idea! It can damage your hair, so be careful about it. The more we dye our hair, the more sensible it gets. Trust me, it's just the second time I've dyed mine blue/green and I know sooner or later my hair is going to get really "weak" so I really dont think dying it two times in two weeks is good.
Give it a month or two, and test the hair dye before you use it. Make sure you're not allergic to it!

Hair dyes are milder these days and the actual dye (not the bleach) actually seems to soften the hair.

For the bleach, use it on "dirty" hair, if you have washed it the same day or day before it will be less efficient. Apply it as evenly as you can! It will turn out great!
