Last week my truck broke down in the middle of a rainstorm. Cost me 600 bucks for the towing and repair.

Tonight I got home from work to discover all the food in my freezer was thawed or thawing. It would seem the fridge compartment has also gone Tango Uniform. The compartment is not very cold any more. Most of what was in the freezer went in the trash. Thankfully I have a small separate freezer I could stuff the rest in. I stripped the fridge too. It's only got stuff that won't be hurt if it's not cold like condiments. I went on-line to check out new fridge costs. I don't need anything fancy, just a plain old fridge with a freezer up top. Best price I can find is around 600 bucks. Anyone notice a trend here?

I guess I'll be fridge shooping after work tomorrow. Meantime I'm going to go buy a bag of ice and stick the stuff in the fridge in a cooler. What a pain in my backside!!!!

I am trying to remind myself this is NOT the end of the world. I'm not going to the poor farm over all this, but still.... jeeze oh pete!!!!

Hello, lizardlady. Unexpected expenses, especially rather large ones, are frustrating.
Thanks for this!

Things are looking better or less bad today. I found a fridge I like, similar to the $600 one, for a hundred bucks less. Plus the other would not be delivered until next week. I can have the less expensive one delivered Saturday. They would bring it tomorrow, but I won't be home.

I'm kinda proud of myself ovewr this. There was a time in my life that this sort of thing would've sent me spiraling down into a deep depression. Don't get me wrong, this is an annoying pain in my backend, but I'm not letting it spin me down the wormhole.

Even if a person can afford it, any extra expense is not welcome. Do you have any discount appliance stores in your area? I don't mind paying a bit more, for some things, if I'm able. I do take advantage of sales, bargains & discounts whenever possible.

I'm glad things took a turn for the better in all of this, lizard. Two major expenses at once...that's a lot, even if, as GypsyButterfly mentioned, you are prepared for it.

I have not been doing so well with remembering this is not the end of the world this week.

I posted about this in the pets forum. The vet was out on Tuesday and discovered one of my horses has something serious wrong with his eye. I have been struggling not to freak out since. I've been down ever since he was here. I'm trying to remember there is a difference between healthy, "normal" sadness/upset over bad things a depression. Haven't been doing too well the last few days. On the positive side, the vet e-mailed a picture of the problem to a specialist. We are setting up an appointment for him to come out next Tuesday. I'm feeling less stressed now that we are taking some action. I hate the sense of being powerless and unable to do anything about a problem.

If bad things truly come in threes, let's hope this was the third thing.

I hope this is the third and the last of the bad luck. You deserve 7 years of good luck now! Kind of the reverse of breaking a mirror.
