Like the title says, it's going to start 11:30 in the morning on Wednesday. I've seen a lot of videos of teens making embarassing jokes and faces, and here I'm wondering, "Wow, that's going to be me... O___O" Hope not! I'll try to control myself or just give up and watch TV or sleep.
My teeth started growing last summer when I was 15 (16 now; my top two peeked through first than my bottom ones). I read that teens 17 or above start to grow theirs, so I guess I'm one of the special ones... I think. My surgeon asked me that she could remove all four teeth, but my bottom two wisdom barely showed up! So that's why they're being saved for later. If any of you had your wisdom teeth pulled out, what was your experience? |

Hello, Lucky_Wishbone. All of my wisdom teeth have been pulled. There was some discomfort but nothing I would describe as remarkable.
I wish you well. |

i had my wisdom teeth pulled about 3 years ago before my insurance was about to run out. i wasn't sure when i was going to have insurance again so i finally took care of it. my wisdom teeth starting cutting through at a relatively young age but they never really gave me too much trouble. i was just scared of having any kind of surgery so i figured if they were ok why get rid of them? the dentist kept bothering me about it so i finally gave in. i opted to have all 4 pulled at the same time because 1. i didn't want to be awake. 2. if they pulled out one set i likely wouldn't want to go through all of that just to do it again. i was super nervous the day of the surgery but the people there were super nice and they put me under and it just felt like time travel. i woke up and it was like my head was just puffy. i didn't have any of those delirious ramblings like those youtube videos, but i'm no stranger to narcotic drugs so i think i was in better control of it. all i remember saying is that i wanted to go home, i was hungry and that the meds were making me nauseous. you will be hungry and thirsty when you wake up but remember take it slow! follow the dentist's directions and you should be fine. like glok said i had some minor discomfort, but nothing the 800mg ibuprofen couldn't help. as long as it's a pretty standard extraction you should be ok. ice packs will also be your best friend for a while, but i was probably eating normal food the next day. hope that helps!

Anyone going under needs a hug.
I've been under anesthesia many times in the hospital. You'll be out of it and time will pass by without notice. You will wake up still feeling a bit drowsy, and you might say a few funny things, but that depends on the person. I wish you luck sista'! ![]() |

Good luck! I'm way older than you and am so fortunate that mine never grew!

I had 6 (yes, that's right, some people have as many as 8) impacted wisdom teeth removed when I was in my 20's. Some of them were very deep. It wasn't that big of a deal. I woke up sore and felt drugged (which I was), and was given pain-killers to help deal with the pain. I was okay after a week or 2, but my face was really swollen for the first couple of days.

I'm in my late 20s (so they've come in as much as they were going to), only a few weeks ago I had to have my top back ones taken out because they were rotting in the back (they were in at such an angle and so close to the jaw that the very back of them was literally impossible to brush)... but I just had mine pulled, while I was awake, with novocaine.
The only really bad thing was the sound of a tooth being pulled out of my head, it was like a sound effect from a horror movie... but if they're putting you under, it should be really easy. At least as far as my situation, they didn't even give me pain meds. I took ibuprofen, which was fine, for like a day and didn't eat solids/hot/cold stuff for two days, then I was fine. Even after the added superstition of it being at 2:30 (Tooth hurty... get it?!?! I'm a dork. :-P)

Good news, everyone! First of all, I felt no pain in the past two and a half hours and am feeling fine, but I will afterward. There's some numbing on my lip and my right cheek is slightly swollen, but I can talk normally! Also, my mom told me that I wasn't talking mad at the office or in the car. See, I started gaining conscious minutes leaving the office, and all I could say was, "Quiet, guys!" because I was feeling tired in the car (I also walked out of the car to the house with no problem). Then I took an hour nap, and after that, I felt totally refreshed! I ate potato soup and was able to chew on the parsley and chunks of vegetable. I'm going to make a YouTube video today, so I'll share it with everyone here!
