Well, I'm in shock.

There's a local restaurant that does a weekly meal-plan of paleo meals. You order the week before, and pick up all your meals on the weekend. I've been doing it for the last year, and it's been SO incredibly helpful for me in my attempts to get healthier (lost 45 pounds over the last year, kept if off so far!).

So, I was sitting here tonight and realized... oh, they didn't send their normal email this week. Huh, I better get online and order, so I have food next week.

I go to their website and see... a message that they've CLOSED (permenantly).

I am in shock. And, I'm worrying, because my ability to organize and cook food is severely lacking. I can do it a couple days a week, but every single day... oh, no. That's why I started getting food from this place - to make my life easier and healthier.

They *just* celebrated their 5-year anniversary a week or two ago. The person at the restaurant was super excited about that.

I think I'm actually feeling... abandoned by a restaurant. How crazy is that?

Just wow. I know this shouldn't be a life-changing thing, but... wow. I did not see it coming...

I'm sorry That's so weird it closed so suddenly I hope you can find a new place that will do this, look it up online!

Thanks Atomicc... Yeah... it's just so sudden and weird. Literally 2 weeks ago everyone there was celebrating their anniversary and so happy. And thanks... I'll look around for a replacement, but the last place I tried was more expensive and not as good!

At least it's friday... I've got the weekend to figure something out. Or get a bunch of cooking done, so I don't starve next week

Thanks Hankster... thanks to you both for listening to me complain! I know it seems like such a wacky thing, I think it's the total lack of predictability that drives me nuts...

And, yeah, meal planning (and shopping, cooking, cleaning)! So NOT fun! I wish I could afford one of those chefs who comes to your house once a week and fills the refrigerator with yummy, healthy, home-cooked food! *dreamy* !

Canned chicken and tuna and salmon, and prepared guac, are my go-tos. I eat like a cat, its disgusting! But cooking is such a hassle for just me.

Actually, the closure isn't so odd. I've worked in food service for nearly twelve years and see restaurants, cafes and coffeehouses come and go, and usually if an eatery doesn't make it, the place will fail within the first two years. If an eatery makes it to five years, chances are really good it'll see ten years or more if the owner wants to keep the place open.

It's also not at all unusual for a customer to be seriously affected by the loss of a favorite eating establishment. I don't think it's silly at all, in fact I suggest you allow yourself to grieve the loss - especially because you had no time to prepare for it.

Hankster - I do keep a couple cans of tuna and salmon around for "emergencies". I'm not sure I could do that for all my meals though! I have been working on trying to cook bigger things, so that I can freeze the leftovers... this works well when I do it, but it's still a bit of work (and it's easy to be in a depressed or lazy space and eat through all my homemade frozen meals, thus having to do a ton of cooking to restock - argh!)

Sister Rags - thanks for the kind words. They had actually been around for 5 years (if I remember correctly), they *just* celebrated their anniversary. I remember one of the guys there, a couple weeks ago, was so excited about it and was trying to figure out something nice to do for the owners to celebrate.

The folks there were nice. The food was good. They had a pretty good following of paleo/crossfit types for their meal plans, and I thought that the meal plan thing was pretty brilliant and soooo helpful. It really was incredibly helpful to me in feeling more "stable" and sane.

I feel like I'm handling it ok so far... but I'm a little sad today (I'd usually be making the trip down there this afternoon to pick up my meals). I'm sure it's going to hit me mid-week when I'm trying to figure out what to cook...

Thanks... guess I need to start finding some recipes for this week...
Hugs from:

guilloche, you're so welcome. The restaurant was so specialized, which makes replacing it extra hard. Nevertheless, I hope you discover another good restaurant that's your home-away-from-home.
Thanks for this!
