If your colleague told her son that she felt you were really shy and he then told you?

There is nothing wrong with being shy. Also, sometimes people assume that people are shy when infact they are just quiet, or quieter than other people. I would not worry about it. I remember my Mother saying - 'empty vessels make most noise'. It is better to be quietly confident rather than being 'loud'.

Hello, Jenni855. I would not be that concerned.
I wish you well. |

I guess, I just feel embarrassed.

She could just be making an observation. I wouldn't feel any way about it. I'm shy or reserved most times. Keeps me out of trouble

If that happened to me, it wouldn't bother me much at all, unless I was extremel;y sensitive about being labeled as "shy."

I guess I am. Shy to me is never a positive characteristic and I worry I come across as weak and pathetic.

Nope, I don't think those words mean the same thing. I've met a few shy, but brilliant people in my lifetime, also met a few strong, but reserved ones too.
