Quote:
Cognitive polyphasia is where different kinds of knowledge, possessing different rationalities live side by side in the same individual or collective. [1] From Greek: polloi "many", phasis "appearance". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_polyphasia
Cognitive Polyphasia seems to be a method of merging old beliefs with the new. There have not been many studies nor a lot of research on this concept. I find it interesting because of the attempt to integrate disparate concepts.

Cognitive Polyphasia, and Why We Contradict Ourselves - Learning Mind

The contradiction involved perhaps affirm what Descartes and Sophocles had to say:
Quote:
"If you would be a real seeker after truth, it is necessary that at least once in your life you doubt, as far as possible, all things." ~Rene Descartes "
The unexamined life is not worth living." ~Socrates, in Plato, Dialogues, Apology

No, too SHy, you are the knowing one. I am curious about how people acquire a comprehensive belief system about themselves and others. My Dad thought I wasted time on nonsense. He reminded me on occasion he could move our house ... and I could not.

Even so, I do enjoy exploring how people rationalize their beliefs when there is legitimate evidence to the contrary.

Thank you for your comment.

Alan Watts (Philosopher) has several lectures on contradiction, myths and how they have shaped Western Culture. And lectures on which laws (secular or non-secular) end up ruling society and the consequences that can result. It's odd how Govn't laws supersede Church values sometimes or vice versa (and possibly stand in direct contradiction to one another) depending on the culture you belong to. (Death penalty, abortion, medical practices are some examples.)
