Books. When I'm really depressed, as I have been lately, new books are the only things I can count on to bring me any joy. My husband and I order them from a discount company, so they usually only cost between three and five dollars each. Yesterday our poor letter carrier had to haul two huge, heavy boxes up onto our deck.

For a while, I have something to look forward to. That's a rare feeling, and I'm very grateful for it.

Looking around on Spotify, clicking on a band you've never heard before, and discovering you freaking LOVE them.
Thanks for this!

Writing. Something creative. Just writing a word or a sentence of something. An idea. That makes me very happy.

I can make a long list of things, people and situations I enjoy, but they do not make me happy.
It's not "what" makes me happy; it is who makes me happy.
I make myself happy!
It turns out that happiness is a choice.
We just need to equip ourselves to make that choice
Thanks for this!

Spending time with and riding my horses. They are the only part of my life that actually makes me feel alive

At times, love. Doing well on the guitar. A good workout. A damn good shower. And so on.

A really shiny clean house
Being well-stocked up on basic needs (food, esp.)
A pleasant phone call from a friend or family
When my husband genuinely compliments me and appreciates me and lets me know it (which is very rare)
Getting great exercise on a cool Autumn day

I don't want to be Debbie Downer, but I haven't felt happy in 17 years.

However, my cat does a pretty good job of picking me up.

And when I visited my 3 year old niece for her birthday, she told me she loved me twice, unprompted by her parents, and also told me how much she loved the book I have her, again, unprompted by anyone. So that was pretty nice.

Getting back from college in one piece, despite all the anxiety. :\ I actually feel like I've really accomplished something, as much as I probably haven't. xD
