I'm really doing a happy dance over this one.

I've been interviewing over the past few weeks for a new job, and it was going well, until it came to providing references. That turned into a mire of messiness that I seriously thought might derail me, but it worked out in the end, and they offered me the job.

It's as a peer support worker, working with a community housing provider for individuals with mental health and addictions issues, something I have a lot of experience with.

It's 24 hours / week at a pretty decent hourly rate. It's just a six month contract for now, which I'm actually happy about. If I hate the job then the contract end is an easy out, but it will be job experience on my resume. And if I love the job, then it will be relevant experience to get a job with another agency, or possibly this agency might have another position available. Either way it's a win.

I'm hoping to also keep my job on the telephone support line, so I'll have something to fall back on if I don't get another daytime job right away after the contract ends. But I'll tell them I don't want to do more than 12 shifts / month which is still up from what I was initially contracted to do, but down from all the extra time I'm working now.

I start next Friday.
