Well,

In the middle of all my storms in life, I'm going to have a recital/concert with my guitar.

Its my first one although I've been studying for 5 years or more.

I was too nervous to do it before - I'm too nervous now too so my instructor helped me keep it simple.

I am doing two duets with my instructor (which are fun and I really enjoy it), and one solo.

I am nervous as a kitten! But I want to do it.

Well, wish me luck! (its middle of November)
Thanks for this!

Good luck! I've played the violin for 5 years and in the third year mark I decided to do a solo in a county orchestra thing in front of one judge. I was so nervous but was so happy I did it, that I pushed myself to do something like that even though I was so shy, I managed to get a score of 1 which is the highest score and a little medal that I no longer have, had lost since moving but it's a good experience, you'll have fun

Good for you. I'm still too nervous to play in front of people, except for conservatory exams, which are their own special kind of unpleasantness.

I hope you do well, and have fun.

Blue_Bird,

Thanks and I'm so glad you did your concert in front of the judge too! Awesome.

I appreciate your encouragement - I've had a rather bad day, so today I've considered backing out.

But I will wait. I think its just a reaction to the bad day I've had. I'll think on it a while before making any drastic decision.

Its wonderful that you play violin BTW. Music is so healing.
Thanks for this!

Splitimage,

I kind of know what you mean. I am going to have to push myself, because today I was tempted to back out.

So let's hope I follow through.

What do you play? (Oh never mind - the harp? Since its your icon?)

Musica91,

What wonderful news! The best of luck to your concert.

I hope this helps you a bit: I used to be a soloist, a travelling concert violinist, a few years back. After 24 years of concerts I was still really nervous every time before walking up on the stage. For me, it was best to be nervous BEFORE the concert. That meant I was looking forward to it and doing the best I can to prepare for it. Once I started playing all the nervousness was gone. The music carried me through.

I hope this will happen to you also. Having your teacher there with you will make it great. My wish for you is that you will be playing your favorite music and can focus on 'singing the song' and enjoying the moment with your trusted teacher.

Let us know how it went!!!
Thanks for this!
