Uh-oh. 'K', I have a slight mouse problem. They seem to get in one set of drawers on one outside wall. (I hope that's all.)

I bleached out the drawers and placed some sticky board traps in there.

Caught: one little brown mouse.

Now what?

Hm-m-m-m-m... well... more mouse traps I guess... see if you catch anything else. Maybe there only was one.

I have one terrified sticky stuck mouse in my bathroom vanity drawer...poor little guy.

I love nature...as long as it's outside!

I used d-con last year......that wasn't a wise move even though I ended up killing the mice ended up down in my basement floor....however one of my dogs got into the d-con & I had to treat her for a month to build her blood back up.

Also had my tool box in my dining room floor & found a whole pile of d-con in the corner of it where the mice had taken it to store it for later eating....either that or to make it look like it was being eaten

When I first moved here I tried the capture & release into the vacant house that never had been finished being built.....that was a LOT OF WORK & I hated chasing the dang mouse around my dining room to catch it in a large container that it couldn't get out of

I don't know of a really good way of dealing with mice. They got into all my kitchen drawers & it was more than I could get around to cleaning so I just took everything out & it's been sitting on my counters every since...& my kitchen is so disorganized because of it.......

I really like mice....they are soooooo cute....but if I allowed them to live in my house they would take over & I can't have that either.....so the battle goes on....if I just put them outside....they will be right back in.

I still think d-con will be my answer because nothing else really works....I will just put it in a place where my dogs can't get to it.

I had a recent go-round with the critters. I first set out traps with peanut butter bait. I caught one adult, and found the other traps licked clean each morning. Then I got some glue traps and caught 2 babies, and I didn't want them to die slowly, so I whacked them up against the wall. The rest of the traps caught a lot of crickets, but no mice. So I then tried D-con. It works slowly, but it does kill them. Maybe 2 weeks max. I have found no corpses or smelled any dead animals. If you do want to try poison, put it in a path you know they take often. And be careful handling it. Good luck!

You can buy these things that plug into an electrical outlet. They emit a high pitch noise that humans can't here, but that mice find intolerable. We got those in an apartment building that had a terrible mouse infestation one year, and never saw another mouse. Sorry I don't know what they're called, my landlady got them for me.

I bought those electronic things that are supposed to chase off mice....plugged in one & stuck in in my attic, another in my basement & one in the kitchen.......

Mice were having fun running around my attic all winter & they kept raiding my kitchen.....so I gave up on them completely....besides.....it doesn't get through the cabinets so they crawl around in the cabinets & the sound doesn't have any effect only out in the open area of the room.....

I thought it was the best idea to start with......it was supposed to do what I wanted but in reality.....it didn't work.

Poor little sticky mouse went to mouse heaven.

Why are you using the most inhumane animal trap in existence?

I have seen mice attempt to chew their limbs off to try and escape glue traps before. Glue traps are condemned by just about every wildlife rehab place and animal welfare organisation, and are outlawed in some places. And as they should be, they're inhumane as hell. If you want to kill animals it should be done quickly and humanely, with a quick killing trap if you're going to use a trap.

I know that some people throw them into the trash still alive, for them to suffer slowly for days on a glue trap. I sincerely hope you didn't do that.

I would recommend a solid snap trap for mice problems. Electronic traps that kill via electrocution are quick and humane, and can be reused. There are other varieties of traps that can be used which kill the animal ASAP. The problem with glue traps is that often you have a live, distressed animal to deal with. I hope you were responsible enough to end its misery humanely, because glue traps can cause major distress. It's not really necessary to make the animal suffer that much. The other problem is that the mouse can escape the trap, often leaving something behind.

I had both the metal snap traps and sticky traps out and caught several in the sticky traps, none in the metal traps. As soon as we find one in a trap we euthanize it. One of them bit my son on his finger this summer when he picked it and the trap up. Poor mouse was probably terrified.

I don't have much of a problem with mice, maybe because I have five cats. I get rats in the house! I use the TopCat brand of poison. It's the same thing as DCon. Works wonderfully. I never had much success with snap styple traps. They'd eat the bait and not trigger the trap. Not to mention I don't want to have to deal with the body in the trap.

Back when I had a mouse problem I got something called a MouseCube. It was a live capture plastic trap. They crawled in and could not get out. I would take the trap and mouse out in a field w-a-y away from the house and release the mouse.

Yep, I was going to suggest you get a cat. I love rodents and hate that people have to kill them.* Having a cat do the killing seems like a much more humane way of taking care of them.

*This comes from the experience of family members. I've never had a mouse problem.

I can't afford snap traps or electronic traps. It was euthanized. Thankfully, I have not seen sign of any more.
