Okay, so Friday morning I arrive at work as usual, and the only thing that's different is that my boss, Ed, the owner of the company, is wearing a nice suit. He normally wears jeans and a button down shirt, so of course I complimented him on his nice suit. He then proceeds to tell us (me and a couple of co-workers) that he has to go to a meeting of all the mayors (not sure if he meant in the county or the entire state) to discuss (i.e. rant about the) ridiculous government regulations (i.e. the EPA). The city paid over $600,000 to widen a road and two months later they get a letter from the EPA stating an endangered species of insect that eats only dead things lived in the area and if they wanted to widen the road, they had to pay $37,000 so that some company could breed more of the insects to be released in the area where the roadwork was needed.
Huh? ![]() Granted, I live in a town just to the north of the town where I work, so I'm not always aware of what happens in other towns. Now that I think about it, I don't know most about what happens in my own town, although I do know who the mayor and police chief are, not to mention the names of a few tribal chiefs of various local nations. The funny part is that when I first started working there about 2 months ago, I had no problem learning how to repair the units (changers for vending machines), but I couldn't get the paperwork right to save my ever-loving life!
