Gave my neighbor my phone number because stairs are hard for her (apartment building). She started borrowing money and always paying it back when she said she would. Then it was alcohol, bread and smokes.

She's very rude when she talks to me. She drives me to the store once in a while but I'm answering her calls every day and I asked her if I pissed her off (should've explained I think she's rude).

Haven't heard from her since then. Maybe I'm out $13 but I'm not out a friend since she wasn't that nice to begin with.

You may be better off keeping her at arms length jaciRock, simply the obligitory greeting every now and then. I made the mistake of being courteous to my new neighbour when he bought the adjoining property to mine. He has now been stalking me for 13 out of 14 years, and has made my life a living hell.

Take care of you jaciRock

Yikes. I am really, really wary of needy neighbors. I'm also not entirely comfortable with neighbors who frequently bring me stuff (food, etc.). A polite, warm "Hello" when we run into each other is fine, and of course if there's a TRUE emergency it's good to know ones neighbors. Otherwise...neighbors, keep to yourselves and I'll do the same.

She doesn't appear worth your time or your kindness - I'd say leave her be.

She paid me back the money but hasn't said much since. I'm just not a people person.

I dislike the needy neighbor so much. I don't mind "can I borrow your mower" or " do you have a wrench" but its non stop when I see my neighbor. *every time* asking for money or tools or to borrow the car. I feel your pain..run, don't walk far away or at least into your home.

One of my neighbors once asked to borrow our bed.
