And there is a good chance of a rent strike by most tenants here -
This is over a water situation that I first mentioned or the following thread:

http://forums.psychcentral.com/gener...ooolllddd.html

Found out this "landlord" point blank lied to the local board of health! The Mayor was in here earlier today, talked to some of the residents, and definitely will be back Friday to speak to more of us in person. And the "landlord" lied to him too - and not even over the phone - right to the mans face!

This guy keeps saying the problem with the water is that every-bodies pipes are frozen. Told the board of health that he waved his normal fee for thawing them out and just sequentially did everyone's and now there is no more problem! - That is only partially correct. He did infarct run a heater under all tenants traillers - and in some cases there was SLIGHTLY more presure after that BUT marginally. So you might as well say it was no help!

He told the Mayer today that there was no broken main water pipe in the park anywhere, but the man actually showed him NOT ONE, or TWO, but FOUR places where all you have to do is look at the dirt and you can tell something is leaking under ground.

So we will see now. But basically since the lease clearer states the landlord is responsible for making sure water is available (and he pays the bill for the park as a whole) and we already haven't had any in over a week - tried to pass it off like the issue was in the traillers not his lines - that is now a known lie. If we don't have water by the time to rent is due........He is NOT getting $1 out of anyone......

So if it comes to that - we will see what his tune is like when everyone tells the judge "Yes I have it, I just don't want to give it to him because he has failed to supply water as the contract states he must in _____"..........

Is looking for alternate housing an option for you? The only reason I ask is we had a similar situation occur here. The owners did not fix the problem and the board of health shut the apartments. The residents had to leave in less than 24 hours. They had the option of suing the owner to pay for them to move but that takes time. The state and other agencies offered some help but most were left in dire straits.

I know we are in different states and things might work different there. I hope it resolves in your favor and you get your water pressure back.

No that is not a typo. Once the board of health condemned the apartments that was it. The state and everyone involved said the people technically had more time because they were warned if the owner didn't comply that would happen. It was not the agencies' fault if people chose to wait until the last minute to see how it would play out.

It was a huge deal on the news because the apartments were very low income and in a really bad area of town. Most of the people that lived there had nowhere else to go and couldn't afford to move but the people involved made it sound like it was their fault for staying until the last minute to see if the owner would do the right thing.

Not sure about laws in your area but when my roommates and I had some problems years ago we went to a tennant association lawyer, he said it was ok to withhold rent as long as you put it in an account that proved you were with holding it not spending it on something else. This was so if it came to court you could prove you had the intention to pay and were withholding because of improper actions on the LL part.
Good luck.

Well, finally water is working right again - but it came close to us just fixing it ourselves (literally - it just so happens I know a little about plumbing, so do lots of others, and even have a few licensed plumbers in here that were all for it, and some pretty big dudes with shovels.
But it was resolved before that - but that was ridiculous - 9 days to get enough pressure back that everything was usable, and 2 more days after that before the pressure was "normal"..........
