My brother and I are looking to get matching tattoos when he comes home on leave. He is currently in the US Marine Corps. I'm trying to think of what we could get tattooed, but I'm stumped because we are very different people. I searched google, but the tattoos I saw were either too generic or too cutesy.

Could you help me brainstorm ideas?
Thanks for this!

I've said my next one will be Co-ordinates written in Roman Numerals of the Lines of Latitude and Longitude of the hospital where my kids were born (they were both born at them same hospital)

what is your idea of too cutesy? And by matching do you mean they just go together OR that they are the exact same?

merpeople dressed as marines?? The north star and a compass signifying you will always find your way back to each other?

Too cutesy as in infinity symbols, birds, lock and key, stick figures or cartoon people, little hearts or friendship half/puzzle piece hearts.

I would like a matching tattoo that would either go together or exactly the same.

I might go through my brother's letters he sent me and see if there is any inspiration.

Maybe something that represents who my brother is and what represents me, or maybe something we liked to do when we were younger. Sorry I'm not much help for you guys, but we are so different and went down different paths. I can tell you that aside from him being a Marine and me being a writer, we are both in a law enforcement family (police), loved playing army when we were younger, both love country and blues music, and were both each other's shoulder to lean on and a listening ear when we needed to talk.

Maybe you can get your brother's initials and he can get yours.

Dice. They usually come in pairs. You can have one die and he will have the other. Or if you want to be creative you can have yours show three numbers and his will show the other three sides. Can also symbolize how lucky you are to be connected.

Is he allowed to get a tattoo at all now? Make sure he knows the rules, they have changed for military recently.

What do you have in common? I'm personally against tattoos... but surely you can find some memory or event or opinion you both share?

Yes, as long as he can cover it with his palm or underneath his clothes.
