Today I went to my first convention. It was a My Little Pony convention and it was pretty fun. It was pretty much what I expected, a bunch of fat geeks in pony outfits. Since I went on the last day, none of the big voice actors were there, but I did get to see the singing voice actresses of Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie and the voice actress of Sweetie Bell. There wasn't a whole lot to do since it was the last day, but there was a music panel and a comedy show. I'll upload the stuff I got today. I got a Fluttershy poster of her in a uniform with the caption "Semper Fillydelis" since my brother is a Marine and Fluttershy is my favorite character, and I had an artist sketch me a picture of Deadmau5 and DJ Pon-3 playing music together. My friend also got me an autograph of Fluttershy. It was a fun day.

Anyone else here been to a convention?

Most of the conventions I've been to were professional. Educational, but not a lot of fun.

I did attend a couple of science fiction conventions y-e-a-r-s ago. The highlight was getting to meet one of my favorite authors. I was happy to discover he was a nice person in person.

I've been to a couple local ones before but they were so I long ago I don't remember what they were for. I just remember I really didn't like them. They were just way too loud and chaotic for me.

I have been to three anime conventions. Well one of them was a japanese/anime convention.
I also went to a Christian convention but that was just so I could meet up with my mother. I'm not religious though.

I go to a convention every year for work, in fact I'm going to Vegas for it next week.

It's a lot of work but also a nice change of pace from my daily life.

I mostly have had to go to alot of tradeshows and 3-day seminar events packed with educational sessions, all for work, which can be interesting but taxing. I did go to a car/cycle and then electronic conventions that had the newest and latest of upcoming models or for gadgets and technology; those were so much fun. I kept thinking I would see Bill Gates, James Bond or Q come around a corner.
