I'm coming into six months of a BP diagnosis and have found myself gravitating away from my "old" self and trying to develop a new me, away from the significantly intense person I used to be.

In doing so, I try to find some humor in my diagnosis. I try not to offend anyone but I do find some light moments here and there to help me cope with things that used to set me off.

Today, I was in the car with my wife and daughter and discovered a new trigger - Justin Bieber. I'm more of a rock and roller and an intermediate guitarist who likes all sorts of stuff (rock, alternative, funk) but not pop music, especially today's pop because it focuses too much on sex and image. I used to battle with my daughter about the radio all the time but now I sort of let it go.

Anyway, today a song came on and I asked my daughter who it was. She mumbled "Justin Bieber", thinking I'd make her change the station. But I said "no, let's hear the whole song" because I'd never really heard any song by him before. It was, by far and away, the WORST song I've ever heard. I said to my wife "this will be a trigger going forward" and she burst out laughing. My daughter doesn't really know I'm BP so she just laughed too.

Does anyone have any humorous triggers? Again, I'm not trying to be improper, just opening up this glorious Saturday with something fun if anyone wants to add. And, BTW, rock on!

yes.

the number 11

why you ask

because years ago, when i was in a math lesson, i was asked what 2 times 11 was.

the teacher, unaware of my diagnoses, was quite taken aback when i laughed

he's like.. what's so funny?

and i'm like, ohh, nothing, nothing at all!

and so when ever someone mentions 11, it's a big thing for me now because it makes me really happy. (no matter how i'm feeling)

to this day everyone thinks i just love the number 11. i don't, but do now. if that makes sense

it's a good trigger because it triggers happyness

Puppets. I get angry when I see one. I must have irrational hatred toward them or something. Maybe it stems from when I was a child and realized the Muppet Babies were pretending on the show. I was so put out, lol. Why would I want to watch a show of someone else pretending- I can do that myself!

Three words; My Little Pony

Specifically the whole Brony thing. My sons are so offended by the whole concept that anyone, much less grown men, could like My Little Pony that I'm all about that ish! Aw yeah! (Secretly I can't stand My Little Pony, but don't tell my boys that! )
