Great question!

My short answer would be, yes, very much so.

I use music for all mood states, and pending where I'm at in my own head space, pends on what type of music I will play.

Listening to music is part of my theraputic regimen to self soothe. Although I get so agitated I forget to do it. All kinds of music, 60s, 70s, 80s, dance, electronic, classical, folk...

I find that I can no longer tolerate sad songs.
It is just to tough these days to listen to.
I listen to music a lot when I am driving but
I try to keep it light and fun. I really have no
choice any longer.

I use music to meditate even though they say we're not supposed to do so. I also use music to escape some of my job during the day. My co-workers tend to complain a lot so I literally tune them out, thereby refusing to feed off their negative energy. Finally, I use music as a mental vacation and pretend I'm a famous guitar player, even though I'm just a guy who takes out his trash every Tuesday morning.

I totally use music to help regulate my mood. What I listen to depends on what mood I want to create or change.

Harp music is great for relaxing.

I listen to music all day. As I'm typing this, I'm listening to music.

I often tell my parents that music is my best friend. It helped me through horrible times, including times when I felt suicidal. The album Dear Agony by Breaking Benjamin has been a lifesaver. I can't even count the number of times I've played it since finding it in 2010.

The band Digital Daggers also soothes me. I love her voice!

Most importantly, I don't feel so alone when I'm listening to music.

I use different songs for different days.

They kind of reflect how I feel.

Some old.

Some new.

I love Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol

I have that one stuck in my head.

I've had a strong connection to music since I was a kid. I often use it to lift my spirits. When things are stressful and/or depressing, listening to music helps me.

I definitely do this, but I've become too reliant on it. If I'm outside of my home, my headphones are in. If not, then I have anxiety attacks or I get in fights. I use it for everything, if I'm angry, I play metal music and just let the anger roll for a bit, I use it to block out people and it helps me work faster, and I use it to just stay calm.

Oh yes! R. Carlos Nakai tops the list of artists who's music reaches in and touches your very soul.

Check him out at

Native American music is by far the most beautiful...

I LOVE some of their songs.

I love music and I do use it to calm myself down.

This has always been interesting to me though. I used to listen to Deftones to "lull" myself to sleep. Sometimes the "loud" ones do have the calming effect.

I watch out for the type of music I listen to whenever I'm "not in the mood" though. Sometimes the songs I love would aggravate situations.

Just remember your reactions to those music/songs and maintain a good sense of preparedness for anything you'd be listening to next. Hope that helps.

Definitely. I find bands like Slowdive, The Cocteau Twins, and Lush tend to calm me down.

I like to listen to relaxation music when my brain has racing thoughts, such as night sounds, waterfalls and soft flute music. It helps with the racing thoughts.
