Do any of you identify strongly with characters in books or movies or songs? I feel like the things other people create have saved me in some ways. Since I have trouble connecting with people.... getting to know them and letting them in. 'The Arts' are a way for me to find myself in these works of fiction and feel ok about myself & less lonely. And also understand other peoples perspectives. For a long time I almost identified 'art' as my religion.

Sometimes I think fiction can be more truthful than things touted as non-fiction, because it is a way of conveying the unexplainable. And maybe the artists identity slips through in a more honest way because there is that mask of 'fiction' and an outlet for their vulnerabilities. Anyway, yay for artists I think they are brave for exposing their creations to the scrutiny of others and generous for sharing with us. I love 'em.
