As some of you might know, I've been sick this week. I'm doing much better, but I'm still really tired. I'm also really bored.

I knew I had to wash three loads of clothes in the laundry here in the apartment building. There is no air conditioning in the laundry rooms so I wasn't sure how well I'd do. I also needed to get some groceries.

I managed to get the groceries, put them up and rest a bit. Then I decided to try to do the laundry. It takes 1 hour and 40 minutes, more or less, for each load. There are only two washers and I had three loads so I knew it was going to be a bit over 3 hours before I was done.

I got too hot and was feeling week when one of the most wonderful people I have ever met came in the room. Miss M is 90 years old. She and her family were in the upper class of New York when the crash of the great depression hit. Her father passed and she was left to take care of her mother.

She was the very first woman to travel the nation in the hotel industry. She has told me about the black outs they had in New York after the attack of Pearl Harbor and oh, so many things.

She is a literal treasure trove of history, philosophy and good, common sense. Her eyes sparkle with intelligence and humor.

I am so blessed to know her. I came in feeling much better than I did before I left, just because of Miss M's sparkling presence and conversation.

((( January )))

I'm so glad for your serendipity!

Ms M sounds like someone who would be interesting to talk to more. Maybe you could have her in for coffee when you feel up to it?

I hope you feel much better very soon.

((((((((( Echoes ))))))))

I must go visit her as soon as I feel a bit better. She has the most beautful peices of oriental furniture that she managed to save when they came and took all her family's possessions.

Hugs,

Jan
