did ya know i didnt even notice ya spelling error?
joe joe says that ppl only need the first and last letter to understand words.. something like that... so if i write

cun yju adl ugftpxmhvd tdfs

would you get it?

(note that the letter inbetween are just so you know how long the word is...)

sure can understand what you wrote... I have heard that too and there was a paper written all in scrambled words except for the first and last circling around the internet... I thought it was great....

Isn't the mind an amazing tool?

Here is part of the article with the paragraph that has all misspelled words.....

Connecting Brain Processes to School Policies and Practices

A monthly column that explores scientific and technological developments that pose problems and possibilities for educational policy and practice.

Are Reading And Writing Innate Skills?
December 2003

By Robert Sylwester, Ed.D.

The terribly misspelled paragraph below has similarly been zipping around the Internet recently. Perhaps you've received it and wondered how you could read it so easily.

Aoccdrnig to rseerach at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a total mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe. Amzanig huh?

A regular reader of this column asked me to explain the phenomenon, and so I thought I’d explain it to all curious BrainConnection readers.

The point of this line of research is that proficient readers read most words (except very long ones) principally through the first and last letters and a rapid recognition of the general shape and content of the entire word. That's why we typically read misspelled words with no trouble.

We can also easily read both cursive and block writing, different fonts (including fonts we rarely see), and words with mixed capital and small letters. We also easily distinguish between words like eight and sight that have only one subtle spelling difference but are pronounced very differently.

Can you read it ok?

Is it possible one might suppose in a general roundabout way so-to-speak that beyond a shadow of a doubt and approaching record status on a grandious scale that a gal who chose to evoke the name and accompanying characteristics of Petunia would find herself at such an envied and lofty plateau in life that mere mortals with ordinary graphics skills would find themselves so in awe of not only her ability to render pleasing visuals for the masses to imbibe but to do so also with extreme originality and a keen grasp of humor included?? whoa....(shiny blue post icon attached for compliance)
