There's not really a forum page for this, so I put this here.
Okay, so I got up to go to the bathroom(mildy gross for the easily grossed out) and I was having bowel movement- but I was attacked by sever abdominal pain before anything happened- like a bloated/PAINFUL cramping- I've had something similar happen to me before, but rarely, and I've gotten through it. So I was feeling out of it and then went to lay my head down on a mat on the floor in the bathroom for a second- I then got back up because of the pain. I sat on the toilet a bit, the pain went away, but I was still feeling out of it. Then my bf came and asked if I was going to be long. I had already gone, and felt like I could get up and let him pee while I sat down for a bit to clear my head.(i had the thought that it might be mild food poisoning). So I got up and after leaving the bathroom, (I have no recollection of this) and apparently collapsed on the floor out near the kitchen (our living rooms meshes with out kitchen in our little one bedroom apartment) my boyfriend said he caught my arm and prevented me from smashing my face into the floor. All I know is I am all of a sudden on the floor and he's asking if I'm okay. I had gone into an instant dream. Then I get up and go to get my water glass, he goes pee and then comes out and I'm on my back on the floor- Again, I have no recollection of falling, I'm asleep and dreaming- he helps me up and he is visibly upset (more scared than anything) So then he help me sit down on the couch. I see my spilled water glass that thankfully landed on a rug and didn't break. Then he's grabbing my arms and saying he'll have to take me to the hospital or something. I ask why and he says that I was sitting on the couch just shaking. Apparently I was having a seizure of sorts Again, I was not conscious for this, I was asleep. (I don't remember any of the dreams) I say get me some water. He sits with me and we look up possible issues, I start to feel better, still out of it and groggy, but better. (We found an article about diverticulitis and seizures caused by severe pain (her's the links: Diagnostic Dilemmas and Testing | Epilepsy Foundation and Seizures caused by abdominal pain? | Epilepsy Foundation ). My bf was apprehensive about leaving me alone and going to work, but I said Id be fine- I laid on the couch a bit and drank more water. Just reading the article again it says to avoid red meat, which can aggravate diverticulitis , along with not enough fiber- I had some ground chuck yesterday in the form of a burger patty that I had delivered via a food delivery service from this restaurant. My bf's at work now- he told a few people and they said I should go to the hospital or see a doctor right away- but in the articles I've read of first person accounts of people having exact same episodes that I did (minus the seizure) they said they went to the doctor and had tests done that were inconclusive- and for those people the stomach pain lasted for hours- mine only lasted for like maybe ten minutes . . .I'm glad I had someone pick up my shift at work today, I'm going to take things easy, maybe call my doctor like I told my bf I would, just to be sure- but I'm sure they would just want me to come in and I don't really feel like doing that, wasting time just to have another bill when all I have right now is and MRA, not health insurance- especially if they won't be able to tell me anything that I don't already know . . . Like I said before, I have had similar instances of this before, I just never got up off the toilet in the midst of things before. and thing always got better. So I think I just need to monitor my symptoms and talk to my doctor about diverticulitis and how to treat and manage my symptoms and prevent aggravating it.

Yeah, I scheduled an appt with my nurse practitioner tomorrow.
I still felt a bit woozy for a while and rested a bit- probably tired due to being slightly under the weather right now as well (stuffed up and runny nose and the like)I don't even want to think about the bill, but it's worth it. I remember my uncle has a a couple of strokes within a 6 months period and had no insurance and so didn't go to the doctor even after family insisted and then he died. I'd rather be alive with a bill than dead.

Good luck with your PNurse. Seizures are not to be ignored. Please get things thoroughly checked out. There is too much of a temptation to refer to Dr Google without getting proper advice. Take care of you.

You certainly did the smartest thing by making an appointment right away. Passing out is so scary. Yikes. Let us know how your appointment went.

Hey Thanks for all the well wishes, I am feeling for the most part better today- I went in and had things checked out and had a urine analysis ans got an EKG done and supposedly everythings fine, it was just a vasovagal syncope-(info here: Vasovagal syncope - Mayo Clinic) but that doesn't really tell me anything- I was told to follow up with my main doctor- as I was referred to go there from my doctor because I had no insurance and so I get to go full circle. I guess I could always schedule an appt for blood work- seeing as I don't really have any real answers. . . .which is exactly why I didn't go yesterday to begin with because I knew this would happen.

I'm really glad to hear that you're feeling better - that sounds really scary (and painful). Hope you continue to get better, and that it was just a weird, one-off thing.
Take care, get lots of rest and healthy foods if you can! |

My husband was born with a condition that can cause petit mals (amongst other things). We've been together 18 years & are in the process of getting him his vet benefits. I wish we had done this sooner. He can take care of himself, for the most part. Or, I help him. Though, I'm semi disabled myself. Having more resources & funds will certainly be useful. Please do keep us apprised of your situation. I've passed out only once & it was a very surreal & upsetting situation. Sending good thoughts & big hugs your way.
