I've been singing my whole life. I attended choir throughout most of school and entered one or two eisteddfods, even winning a gold!

After I had my son I got my first Sarah Brightman CD (Eden). From that day I was hooked. I have almost all her material and have taught myself basic (amateur for sure) opera and how to sing (once again, totally amateur) in different languages.

For the last 3 or so years, I just kind of stopped singing. My weight gain had much to do with it. And I just never felt like it. Just recently, I have revived my huge Sarah collection and have started practicing various pieces again. I am battling a little with the high notes (I'm a soprano) but with time and practice I'll get it right. There is one song in Spanish that I am so taken with and I am starting, albeit very slowly, to sound a little legible with the lyrics. It's a fast song so I'm really tripping over my words.

But the adrenalin rush when I've just finished an operatic piece is enormous. And it has left me feeling really good. As I'm entering my third sober week, I can use all the help I can get!

Singing is a huge blessing. I'm so very lucky.

I remember what that felt like too, when I opened my mouth for the first time in maybe a year, and sang my heart out....

What relief, comfort and utter joy it evoked.

Good for you!!!!

Keep singing, and keep smiling!

Excellent! I sing with a major metropolitan symphony chorus and it truly feeds my soul. Probably one of the most healing things I did for myself. You should find a local choir to perform with. Enjoy.

Music is such a wonderful thing. Surpassing the mind (head stuff) and going straight from our soul. May you find much healing as you re engage in this beautiful gift.
