Today, I stopped in at my University's bookshop to pick up a new notepad for my lectures, and I saw something that has never been in there before: adult colouring books. There are a huge range, from Celtic designs to cars, faeries to Japanese 'post card' designs. Honestly, they looked pretty cool, and if it weren't for the fact that they're not cheap, I probably would have bought one.

But it got me thinking, and now I'm curious: what are your thoughts of adult colouring in books?

I have a lot and I think it's a soothing, helpful, creative thing to do and I'm about twice your age!

I use them and I love them Though I'd a bit embarrassed admitting it in real life But maybe I shouldn't be, because many people use them. I like especially mandalas. There are also some that don't cost to much.

I have a couple, and love them. I find colouring really relaxing and a good distraction for when I want to drink. I found a really nice one of Mandalas for only $4 USD on Amazon.

I spent a lot of time colouring while my D was in hospital, it was very therapeutic, I print adulcolouring sheets off the internet. You could always ask for some for Christmas with dome good pencils like Derwent.

Personally I think it would be a better way to calm down than Angry Birds or knitting (at least for me).

We had a thread about adults coloring a while back. I thought I was kinda weird that I enjoy coloring. Then I found an article that a lot of adults enjoy it. Personally, I enjoy the books for kids. The pictures are simple and easy to color. I do have a couple of books for adults, but frequently don't want to have to do the teeny tiny detail in them.
Thanks for this!

I love the idea of adult coloring books. The drawback is the cost for me right now. I saw a few coloring books at Michael's for $12/each...yikes! Because I would need to purchase a set of pens...although I guess colored pencils or even crayons would work, too.

It's good to find out that the coloring books on Amazon are less expensive. I'm pretty sure I'll be getting one soon.

LauraBeth, you can find free coloring pages on-line that you can print and use.
