Hi folks,

Well, the summer has come and gone, and so it must be time for another community fund drive.

Many of you know Moreta, who's been a member here since October 2009. She is in a tough financial spot because of her husband's work and salary being significantly and unexpectedly cut. She may want to shed further light on the details, but suffice it to say, it's for a very good cause. This money will help her family navigate the in-between place they are in right now.

She has submitted an application, which has been reviewed and approved, for a Community Connection Grant from our nonprofit, the Psych Central Community Connection.

I know these are still tough economic times for many people, but I want you to seriously consider donating to this Community Fund Drive. I know that a financial contribution may not be possible, so if that's the case, please leave your prayers and thoughts privately or in this thread.

Psych Central will match dollar for dollar of every dollar donated (up to the maximum of $250; $500 total to the member). Every dollar counts, so even if you can afford just $5, please consider this request.

Donations can be made through PayPal (using your credit card or bank account) to us at:

Donate | Psych Central Community Connection

Otherwise, send your check or money order (no cash, please) to:

Psych Central Community Connection
55 Pleasant St., Suite 207
Newburyport, MA 01950

Everyone who donates gets access to our exclusive Poohbah Forum, and our thanks for helping out another member in need in our community. In addition, donations are tax deductible as allowable by law, as the Psych Central Community Connection is a recognized 501(c)3 public charity.

This Community Fund Drive will run for approximately one week; donations will close on Friday, September 18, 2015.

As always, I thank you for your kind consideration and support.

Best,
DocJohn

Thinking of you Mo.
Wish I could do more than that, but I can wicked relate to financial hardship.
Do not lose hope that all will work out in the end.
That is what keeps me going.

I'm happy this opportunity is available for you Moreta. I hope it eases a little of the tension.

We used the kids school fee money to buy groceries today. Sigh. It never ends.

Thanks everyone. Like DocJohn said my husband's salary was pretty much cut in half, and between the mortgage and my health insurance, we're left with about $200 a month for our other bills and food. Currently I'm seeing a therapist that doesn't take health insurance and that costs $100 every other week. I don't want to stop seeing her because I've made a lot of progress, so this is what this money is going to be used for along with food and our power bill.

Hopefully my husband will get a new job soon. He just graduated, so he hasn't been looking for long. I also applied for disability and have been selling jewelry and paintings, but I haven't been making much. My husband does some odd jobs for the company that is renting the building where his office used to be, but it's not a lot. Currently he is without health insurance and is out of meds. Some of the money will be used for that too.

Thank you for all your support.

I don't have money to offer you, as I don't even have food in my home. I understand how hard it is to go without. Many times I fed my son and went without food myself. I will say a prayer for you and your family that it works out well for you. Best wishes for success in your husband's job search and all of your healthy goals.

I really wish, if Psych Central feels that they must do these "drives" that they would make them anonymous.

I am reading details of people's life situations that seem private and I'd prefer not to know. I wouldn't be any more or less likely to donate depending on whether I knew who the donor was.

Why not make the recipient of the donations anonymous? Just a thought.
Thanks for this!

You can actually donate to the fund at any time -- anything extra is kept in the bank account and used for future community fund drives and keeps our non-profit arm running.

Thank you everyone who donated to this community fund drive! It's been a great outpouring of support for Moreta, who's been sent their check. We hope it helps...

Best,
DocJohn
