I know it's not authentic Chinese food but what do you like to get when you order out from your typical Chinese restaurant.

Our food usually lasts us for a few days since we order so much, but there's lots to pick and choose from.

Here's what we generally order

Eggrolls
Sweet and Sour Chicken w/o sweet and sour sauce.
General Tso's
Pork fried rice with extra onions
Steamed dumplings
Crab Rangoon
White Rice
Wanton Soup with extra scallions

House mustard and duck sauce

We usually get something different each time. We have diverse tastes. It's the same with other foods. It's the same, well, with everything we enjoy in life One thing we always get is, potstickers. I love those. It has to have a flavorful filling & it needs to be slightly crispy on the outside, but, mainly doughy. At least, that's the way we like them.

Don't like the places that deliver here. But if I could order from the old place I'd have shrimp Szechuan, won ton soup and spring rolls. All with mint tea.

When I lived in my old city, we had a Chinese take-out not far from where we lived.

We always got:

Chicken chow mein
Egg foo yung
Shanghei steak
Sweet and sour pork (gorgeous crispy batter)

Since we have moved to a much smaller town, we only have one Chinese restaurant. Their food is good but is really no where near as nice as my home-town's. We've only ordered about 3 times in 2 years.

I don't do this now cause of the strict diet I'm on now, and it's gotten too expensive!

But I like:

Fried rice
Fried shrimp
Sweet and Sour chicken or pork
Egg rolls
Beef and Broccoli

And ALWAYS either fortune or almond cookies!

I've seen so much stuff on the menu that looks so good, and I've only had a few items on it!

P.S. I don't like spicy or hot stuff.

No such thing as food delivery where I live in the boonies. I do love good Chinese food though.

There was a really good Chinese restaurant near my old office. They have fantastic veggie egg foo young. I'd have them put the gravy on the side and just eat the patties with white rice.

other dishes I like
sweet and sour chicken
beef and broccoli
potstickers
spring rolls egg rolls
sesame chicken
most any kind of fried rice
Sechwan (sp?) beef

hmm, I have to run to the store soon. I think I'm going to pick up some Chinese for dinner!
Thanks for this!

I like everything except PEAS. They ALWAYS put that in there, and I painstakingly pick out every single one and throw it out.

There's nothing really close to where I live. Occasionally I'll go to a place where one of our pharmacists goes & get their hot pepper chicken, which has these peppers that look like overgrown jalapeños. I also love hot & sour soup.

2 Vegetable Eggrolls
1 Large Vegetable Lo Mein
Sugar donuts (most likely not authentic Chinese food lol, but delicious anyway)
Thanks for this!

Yesterday I finally ordered some after not having it for 3 years, seriously.

The guy on the phone was rude. When I asked WHAT veggies are in the "mixed veggies" he rattled off a bunch of things way too fast for me. Geez, I need (& think I have a right to know) WHAT is in it since I don't like all veggies. And I'm sure he won't give me a refund if I say "I don't want that. I hate water chestnuts."

And when I got my order delivered, I paid cash which I scraped together, being it was more than I thought it would be. Last time I ordered for delivery, the guy that came had change for me. I know it was 3 years ago, but....LOL I should have the given exact amount, but I didn't think of it at the time.

This guy didn't, and when I called about it, again--rude!! He had the gall to ask did I tip, and I said yes and told the amount. He said, "10-15% is customary." That pissed me off, so I said, "I don't have to give anything at ALL." Yeah, it's our custom, but it ain't mandatory. I gave what I could. ***hole.

The change I was due was small, but every penny counts for me and this was just a one-time splurge since I've had a hard, miserable summer with TMJ pain, financial pain, and a strict diet due to ******** pre-diabetes.

I asked can I get a credit on my next order, IF I order again, and he balked at that. He didn't listen to me, and practically hung up on me.

However, the food is DE-licious!! Their fried rice is the best I've ever had in my life. I love spinach, and they put that in their spinach fried rice.

On a more cheerful note, I ordered:

Beef and Broccoli
Steamed Shrimp with mixed veggies
Spinach fried rice
Fortune Cookies

I meant to order almond cookies instead, but I spaced out and ordered fortune. No worries, as I love those as well. But almond cookies aren't so common with the meals.

I'll give it another try, reminding him of yesterday, and if I get a hard time again, I'll ask "Should I just call another place then and give THEM my money?"

I love wonton soup! There's a place in town that sells it cheap and it's good quality stuff. I like the little crispy noodles that come with it too. Other appetizers I like are crab rangoons and egg rolls.

There was a Chinese place in my hometown that liked to make these appetizers called twin rolls - long prawns placed inside thin wonton wrappers stuffed with cream cheese and then deep fried briefly. They were SO good but I haven't seen them anywhere else.

I don't really have a go-to Chinese take out item when it comes to meals. It also depends on where I go, but I guess I like the sweeter menu items a little more - orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken, honey chicken, sesame chicken, etc. Other entrees I like are mongolian beef, cashew chicken, combination fried rice, empress chicken... (can you tell I like chicken?)
