Oh! I'm going to go insane!!! Along with our very hot summer, comes zillions of flies. Everywhere. All the time. I have several automatic sprayers around the house (darn expensive gadgets) but they don't really help.
The worst is the kitchen. They get in everywhere! When I open the fridge, they fly out or lie dead - I'm forever cleaning the fridge. If I open the freezer, they're frozen there too. I double wrap everything in heavy duty foil and lids and dishtowels but for pete's sake - they find their way into the food and lay eggs too! Cooking is so hard in the summer. No matter how careful I try to be. I find them in the microwave, they get into the hot oven and they land on everything. Last night, I roasted a chicken. The kids left the dish partly covered. The leftover chicken (almost all of it) was covered in flies and there was even a dead fly or two in the sauce. I won't even give that to the dogs. I simply cannot have one of those sticky things hanging from my ceiling - that is way too gross. I spray the window sills with citronella, I burn candles. I run around like a lunatic with a fly swatter - all to no avail. This simply has to be my MOST DREADED hate. What absolutely useless, useless creatures. I feel sorry for the biggie dogs too, as the flies bother them to no end - I use a spray for them. Doesn't seem to help though. I keep the yard as clean as can be, considering. But oh my goodness!! Thanks for letting me rant.

Yikes, that sounds horrible! I have lived in parts of the US before where bugs came indoors during season changes, but have never had to deal with them all summer.
