So they say you can't be happy all the time and hear this being depressed people when others are giving a depressed person their consolation. I think everyone knows that you can't be all the time, but people use this argument to levy all sorts of insults on people who are not feeling well psychologically, they call them weak, immature, lazy, crazy, and a whole lot more. I have seen that it makes feelings worst as it discredits our feelings typically it seems to be from family members unable to accept that their ("son" "daughter" "sister" "brother") sure sometimes we are being paranoid, but often times we know pretty well how we are feeling. A lot of times we all end up becoming so good at acting like we are fine that those around us can't believe we have any issues so they think it must just be a temporary phase.
People say doctors give psychiatric meds away like candy thus in the non suffering public they see those with mental illness as pill poppers who use the medical system.
What I don't understand is how people can make such unfair judgments, when there is a difference between major depression and normal sadness that occurs here and there, but they have never felt majorly depressed so they have no clue. Many people suffer more than they need to simply because of the expectations that everyone experiences emotions the same or are supposed to. So where is the line between normal sadness and depression? Is there even one or is it just when depression gets in the way of life?

depression lasts a long time, whereas sadness, you can have a low mood, have a bad week - but it isn't depression unless it continues.
