This is the last painting I did during the summer grad classes. I decided to try a watercolor portrait of my twin grandsons....

Okay...I see you have to click on the attachment link at the top of my post to see it!

Thanks, Canders, Skittles and Mybest!
I'm trying to find a mat and frame to fit it in my pile of art clutter right now, and will give it to my daughter next week when I visit them in Louisville.

This is really good Patty! Your daughter will love it!

I am awful with water colors, but I do like to paint with other paints. Keep up the good work. You are really talented!

btw, I don't know if you have a joann fabrics near you, but the one here has a 50% off sale on frames. I don't know if the sales will be the same there, but worth a shot if there is one close by.

Thanks for the tip on the frame sale at Joann's...I love to go there and buy yarns!
Watercolor is different than ptg with opaques, like oils...and can be tedious and tricky. I tire of it myself and like to experiment with other media.

What a beautiful watercolor of your grandsons.

Watercolor is supposed to be the hardest medium to paint with...I have tried a few times with partial success.

You have mastered watercolors.

Thanks, MOjO...I don't think anyone ever really masters watercolor...so tempermental and easy to make mistakes!
I am going to post a thread asking people to post their paintings, since there seem to be many artists here!

Thanks, Bebop!
I'm struggling to mat it and get it framed. I've found mats which almost fit and am cutting them to make them fit, and found a frame in my art pile. Have called the hardware store and they will cut some plexiglas for me, so i should be able to take it with me to KY next week...almost tempted to keep it myself!

Thanks both of you!
I've done a kind of hack job of matting it, but it looks pretty good, and I have the frame already.
My daughter just saw the pic of it via email, and responded that she "loved the finger sucking!"
The two stuffed animals they are holding are significant...I bought the two "Pluffies" for them when they were infants, and they have been totally attached to them forever! My daughter even had to re-stuff them!

Wonderful job Patty! You captured the essense of childhood in their facial expressions too!

I had to laugh when I saw the little one on the left sucking his two left fingers...my youngest daughter used to do that too when she was a tot (actually until she was a teen! LOL)

Lovely work hon and I'm sure your daughter will be so pleased to receive it!

Hugssss

LOL, thanks, Sabau!
One of the twins sucked his two middle fingers and the other, in the portrait, sucked his two first fingers. I think they still do!
My daughter was a thumb sucker up into her teens! though I tried to break her of it!
