I have no idea why I'm creating a thread about this. i guess to just vent but I had a completely private blog on blogger; before google; whom is becoming too large for it's own good; decided to buy out blogger and I guess because I hadn't accessed it in forever, they decided to delete my blog and give away my user name! So now ALL of my poems (all quite dark but they were still MINE) are all gone! i just wanna rip something apart!

There's this URL that I found where you can log into your old account and move it over to your google account and it says that the email address (my old yahoo one) isnt found and my user name someone else STOLE; since it was mine! i dont care about having a stupid blog, I just want my poems! Freaking idiots! At least email me (the gmail or the yahoo) to tell me, hey you better move this over or you're gonna loose it! Did I get an email????? NO! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ugh....that's awful! Isn't there anything that they can do to help you recover your material?

I dont know. I havent called google or anything. I should. I know they have a call center in AZ as they have been named "The Best Place To Work" for several yrs.

Im just so mad that all my poems, all my deep words from my soul are gone and I have no written copy

I am so sorry that this happened to you. I do wish that you were given warning about them giving your user name. I had no idea that they could do that. I hope that you are able to some how retrieve your poems.

I would be really upset if this had happened to me and I lost all of my writings. Those can't just be replaced and trying to rewrite them is damn near impossible since all the feeling and emotion that went into the poems were from how you were feeling at the time.

They should have sent you a warning that this was going to happen. I think that a call is in order to complain but also see if they can somehow get the poems back.

I'm sorry that you are going through this and I hope that you can get them back. Best of wishes.

sorry this happened to you. for future reference most blogging\journal websites do have those registering to agree to terms of use and disclaimers. most if not all times they include in this registration\information page to use a back up in the event that the website crashes, loses it licensing too be a website domain, and that if a member doesnt log in for 30-45 days their account will be locked scheduled for deletion. doesnt sound fair I know but even blogging journalling sites have their limits on how many members, posts and such the servers can handle. even here at psych central i have noticed periodically the servers need to be cleaned, purged and updated so doc john places notices of scheduled down times and to back up or other wise copy any posts members dont want to lose in the process. it may be that these blogging website you are posting about sent out a notice during the time in which you didnt log in notifying its members that purging\updating was going to be done. most blogging journal sites have a spot in the profile settings where a person can receive email notifications from the site. maybe next time check to see if this is an option and check the box so that you will receive an email when the site administrators\owners need to let you know they need to purge their system if you havent logged in during a certain time frame.

Its not that important to have a 'next time'; I was using it as sort of a private online journal. I didnt use it or post to it for yrs but did used to log in and copy & paste some of my poems off of it and did so not that long ago; google had not bought it yet as it didnt want my google log in info...therefore it was still there then.

They have a URL to move old to new; i am in IT and build websites; I also understand EULAs and know they arent responsible for lost content, though I didnt post for yrs, they can see me logging in but though the URL is still functional, they deleted my account.

All of that being said; none of it makes it any less upsetting that my feelings and emotions back in 2004 area are now completely gone.

Im sure they did, to my yahoo email that is now used for spam and i dont log into it for much. If i knew that google was buying blogger...heard of it somewhere as being in IT i normally hear of this stuff, i would have moved the important content off of it. It was a big suprise to me when i went to go log in, as i did not but maybe 6 months ago...probably less than that, to go get one...suprise, google deleted it and your username now belongs to someone else. Ugh!

It is upsetting as it was were i was writing my emotions around that time and i wasnt writing them down for a very good reason, didnt have a smart phone or a PC back then; it was in the days of my ex.

I could have copied and pasted them onto my phone the last time i logged into it but it didnt occur to me, since it was only about 6 months ago, that it was going anywhere.

im sure its possible for them to retrieve it but w/ an agreed to EULA and without some sort of subpoena or something of the sort, they wont. I want to call just to give someone hell but I take those calls at my job and they arent fun, especially when you didnt do it, have no power to fix or change it. So all thats gonna do is make someone's work day bad.

It just upsets me as thats the only log i had of my emotions and inner feelins at that time are gone!
