How long does it take you to finish reading a book, let us say, of 300 pages?

Totally depends. I don't read like when I was younger. I think the fastest I read a book these days, was 4 days, was 600 pages. But usually maybe 2 weeks.

Wow, that is fast. What books do you read usually, and is it in your native language?

I mostly read in my native language but not always. Some books are not translated. I usually read thrillers, young adult, so pretty easy read. When I was at school we read 7 books a week. Heavy stuff. So everything is relative.

I usually read books about science and they are all in English, which is not my native language. So, it takes me longer to finish a book. But I am also distracted easily, and that is another factor.

I can easily read 300 pages in a day or two (if I'm doing little else). But I've been so busy lately that when I do plonk in front of the TV, I don't have the concentration to read. I've got a number of unread books waiting for me. Once I start on a good book, I really struggle to put it down.

If I have nothing else to do, approximately 4 hours.

That's also assuming the book is interesting.

If I'm really into the book it doesn't take me long at all, few hours or so.

I rarely read like I used to. I think it is because it is easier to do something else. When I was a kid, books were my biggest escape.

I still read well if I'm somewhere with no Internet access... also bathroom works well, LOL.

If I have have the quiet time needed and I'm not completely exhausted a couple hundred pages is nothing to take on in a few hours, like mentioned ^^
I was stalled on this past book I'm in the middle of. Started around a vacation time from work and the kids school routines. I'm close to finished. I read "The Dinner" prior to this one in one day. An interrupted day, at that...

Probably a day or two -- about six hours or so I guess. Depends on what the book is. A standard novel? About what I said. Something more dense/older or more technical would take longer.

Hmmm. Good question. I guess a 300 page book might take me a fair few hours to read, if I don't read it all in one go. I love reading, always have. I even received an award for "best reader" in my 3rd grade class.

However, that worked against me as I would always be scolded for "pleasure reading" as my mother called it, often during Math class, which I found rather boring.

I hope the question was about how long I personally have a novel before it is finished, rather than what the active reading hours are. I have never thought of the latter.

The question was how long it takes you to finish a book (whatever book) from the time you start reading it, regardless of how many hours you read in it each day.

If I have the time and am not so doggone tired, a few hours/ As of late, I only get to read a few pages when I lie down and before I fall asleep so it can take a couple of weeks to finish a 300 page book; even then I catch myself having to go back and read some of the pages as I was too tired or not paying attention to catch what happened the time before, this draws it out even longer. I should work on my mindfulness.
