I hope you are getting a nice turtle. This post reminded me of what happened to me on Saturday. I am new in Kentucky & I was at a carpet store, ordering carpeting for my new home. When I went out of the store, I got side tracked & laid my notebook on the back of my car. Without realizing it, I drove off with it there & lost it. When I went back to look on the highway for it, I saw a turtle on the side of the road......or what did I see?????? I turned around to go back & see what I really saw & by that time, he was already out in the slow lane. I pulled over to the side of the highway & motioned the oncoming car to go around him. I then walked out to pick him up. He had a long tale that looked like an alligator.....I realized it was a snapping turtle, but had to save him. I picked him up close to his back legs & as I did, he really did snap at my hand even though it wasn't any where close to my hand. He held his mouth open, threatening me all the way over the embankment to where I dropped him on in the pond. He was sure nasty considering I was trying to save his life, but I really had to laugh at him.

Hope you are getting a nice little, rather domesticated turtle compaired to the snapping turtle I saved. Enjoy him....they make good pets & live a long time, so be prepaired to have him the rest of your life.

I took care of two turtles for about three years before. They neither grew or had babies. Their little aquarium smelled really terrible because of their food whenever I cleaned it every two days, nevertheless, they were really cute.
