The TD that parked itself in the Florida straits over the weekend has intensified to a tropical storm and earned a name.

I'm pretty far south of where they expect it to make landfall, but am still keeping an eye on it. We have been getting heavy rain and a lot of wind. The thing that concerns me is that the storm is very slow moving. Now that it's sitting over the warm water of the Gulf it could grow even stronger. I live and work in the area that was slammed by repeated storms in 2004.I still get the willies when we have a storm coming.

The powers that be where I work decided to close all of our offices tomorrow. Some are in the projected path of the storm. Other areas are prone to flooding when we get a lot of rain. They want us off the roads tomorrow. I'll take a day off with pay!

I know we have some members that live in Florida. Be safe folks.

It's good that your employer decided to play it safe.

Hope everyone is alright through this storm.

I hope it'll clear out by next week, since hubby and I plan to spend a week in your state.

The storm got upgraded to a Cat 1 hurricane yesterday. Dropped back down to a tropical storm when it made landfall last night. The storm itself is up in Georgia now. My area is still getting hit by bands of rain and wind. There are reports a tornado might have touched down a bit north of me. Lots of roads are flooded, but they are roads that are prone to flooding. Everything seems okay here at the farm. My property is on a ridge. If it ever floods here the entire state is gonna be under water. It's possible that the roads leading back here are flooded. They cross the headwater for a river. If the river floods, the roads flood.

Trav, predictions are for some more rain over the weekend, but it should end by the start of next week. Remember this is rainy season here. We are likely to get rain in the afternoons.

IchbinkeinTeufel, the storm made landfall last night near where the panhandle and peninsula of the state meet.

The powers that be at my agency decided late yesterday to close all our offices again today. Thanks to the storm we are getting a five day weekend!

To everyone being affected by the storm - please stay safe.

I thought it was in South Carolina? Or was it in Georgia this morning, and is in South Carolina now?

Either way, North Carolina has definitely been affected! I don't know if we'll see it while it's still bad, but we're expecting a pretty big flood today. Schools were closed early, and my therapy session was cut a bit short so I could get home safely with my baby. It's been raining nonstop since I woke up. My poor fiance is working outside in this. I really wish the shop would close for the day.

It's getting pretty rough up here and they said the worst of it will be tomorrow night.

Well it looks like the storm missed us entirely.
Very happy about that.

The storm hit my area really hard, but I'm fortunate to only have minor damage to my house.

My neighborhood is still recovering.
