I wanted to do a load in the machine but I am a delinquent I put the clothes that was dirty on the line I thought it was clean maybe I would have known it was dirty if I paid more attention to what happens around me and I wasn't a space cadet to selfish to see the life around her. Anyway, she found out so I rushed to put the dirty clothes in the washing machine I wanted to wash it but she is yelling she doesn't want me to calling me a devil from hell etc, etc. Amongst the stupid things I did wrong I managed to fold this time clean clothes and put it away. All I wanna say is I never want to make this stupid mistake ever again next time I will put the dirty clothes, wash the clothes and put the clean clothes on the line. I guess, I am delinquent for the time being

You are just NOT being mindful of your surroundings. It's a good feeling to be aware so you know the right thing to do.
Sometimes we learn best when we do something unwise & swear NEVER to do it again. It logs permanently in our minds a new more positive behavior.....though its just easier on everyone to be more aware in the first place, that doesn't always happen for any of us. We all make mistakes The other day I put dirty dishes in the dishwasher and realized the ones already inside were clean. I washed them the night before.

I put clothes in the washer and then forget to turn it on. We all do these things.

Are the baskets not organized properly? Line drying?
In your other thread you mentioned that you were going to show her by doing the laundry.... Could this be passive aggressive on your part? You've mentioned that your mom is Portuguese, could that expression better translate to "whatever possessed you" to do that? Last edited by healingme4me; May 27, 2016 at 05:00 AM.. |

We have line drying outside and she had clothes in the washing machine I thought they were clean coz I don't think I ever remembered my mother forgetting about cleaning clothes. I didn't think she'd leave dirty clothes just drying the washing machine. I guess I will be more mindful and ask her next time.

I have similar 'doh!' moments too. I blame my medications for making me at times silly or forgetful. The other day I had three showers forgetting I had already done so. A while back I repeated a grocery run bringing home the identical groceries I had bought earlier in the day. This is one of the things that frightens me about returning to work; I am fearful of looking like a dope.

If they were wet, it's logical to assume clean. If they sat wet for any length of time, then they need a rewash. I'd venture to say that many don't use their machine as their dirty laundry basket.

It's happened to me. I put clothes I thought were dry on my parents bed turned out they were wet and they were also my parents uniforms which have to be washed and dried just right or it gets ruined and they have to start all over. So that was a big oops and now I'm more careful about laundry that isn't mind.

You're mother is frightening, black-roses.
If I did that my family would laugh it up, but not in a cold, insulting way. We have all done similar things, also. But I think most people aren't called devils from hell over it... yikes! I wish you the best of luck with that, girly. __________________ No ones reality is ever alike.

I wish I could say my mother would have reacted in such a happy way. My mom was far from happy-go-lucky. She would have been horrible had I done something like that. I would have been called an embarrassment and she would have accused me of doing it on purpose; how humiliating it would be to her if someone found out.

I agree with Finniky. When I went on vacation, young and newly married, I forgot and left wet laundry in the washer. My husband and his family who were with us, berated me, insinuating I was stupid....like this was justification for ruining my vacation. I experienced years of such treatment. Finally got myself free.
Your "mistake" with the laundry was a minor thing! There is no justification for treating you so badly! |

I have done worse, actually. I left my clothes in the washer all night one time (ew), and woke up in a panic. Wasting water and laundry detergent is not cool at all.

I do similar things all the time. Then I beat myself up for it to no end. Part of my Bpd, just another reason to hate myself. But, honestly, be kind to yourself. This surely isn't the end of the world Black Rose's!

My washing machine broke while I was doing a load of laundry. It wouldn't drain. I though it had to do with cleaning the filter & over the next month, tried different things to get the washing machine to work on the same load of laundry that it broke on. Turned out the computer that ran the washer was broken & I had to get a whole new washing machine. I did take those cloths out & haul them over to a friends....turned out it was several months of no washing machine & that one load sitting in it while I was trying to figure out what to do. That was just after I started caring for the abused stallions so I had LOTS of dirty cloths that piled up while that one load just hung around in the washing machine because I was too busy to figure out what was going on & would just leave it for days before trying to figure out another way to make it work.
I have a tendency to forget that I have cloths in the washing machine but I never put them in without washing them.....but have left them in way too long after being washed because I forget that they were there. __________________ Leo's favorite place was in the passenger seat of my truck.
