I consider myself a beginner artist. I've had drawing books and never got hooked like I wanted to. I know practice is what it takes.

I take 3 buses to get to a art and music place for people with mental illnesses. I received a great welcoming.

There you can do clay, water color, and pastels.

So far I have only done clay there.

Its a great place to connect with people.

I'm not a professional artist. I consider myself an artisan, because of what I do. There is definitely art in clockmaking.

I enjoy drawing with ink and working with metals. What kind of art do you like?

I paint and draw, play music, used to be a dancer (long story there), and used to write some too.

I think a lot of us here are artists actually. Seems to run in the MI bloodline. All the crazy in our brain unlocks some kind of creative fuse, lol.

Someone on the forum recommended a book called 'Ways of Seeing' by John Berger.

It helps to get an artists eye on things.

I really need a class because I can't seem to draw anything that I would like to draw. Or a step by step book that I've had before.

I consider myself very creative. I 'do' art in multiple disciplines yet wouldn't consider myself an artist.

I like drawing with graphite and charcoal. Love that there is so much drawing help/instruction online, but I really should check into getting a book or two.
Thanks for this!

Nice.

I'm glad to see all these talented individuals.

Really gives me hope as I am an aspiring artist.

Today I am working with clay. Might make a pinch bowl or something else if a idea comes up.

Not an artist by occupation. I come from a long line of very talented artists and i did not inherent much natural talent or visual spacial intelligence. But, I attended an arts high school, I was a drama major, but I did a few different art classes for electives + after school, and got to spend free periods in whatever studios were "open" at those times, so i have definitely got to explore a lot of different mediums. Ive done pottery, watercolors, photo, drawing, dance, voice, hand bells ( that was a great club ) , some oils acrylics, sewing/ costume design which was actually a requirement, and my favorite printmaking/ mixed media collage. I love lino carving. .... my grandmother was a lino/ wood carver, by proffesion and she left me her blocks and tools. I haven't done anyin quite a few yrs unfortunately :/. I still sew sometimes but I seem to have tons of drawn planned projects that I just never seem to finish... so at present really all the art i do is free hand mandalas/ henna inspired design doodles. I carry a sm scetchbook w me. It is a good coping skill i find. great to hear you are finding a creative outlet, Joel! Wish i had a center like that near me.

I have no natural talent either. Theres musicians in my family but no painters or anything.

I really want to learn more and try to get good.

All that is important is that you enjoy making art, Joel!

I always loved art, and how I could use my imagination and creativity to make anything I wanted. I've even taken art classes. My mother says I have a natural gift for it, and looking back at some of my old sketches, I'd say I agree with her.

If you'd like to see it, here is a link to an album I made on here of various artwork I did over the years. Go check it out!
