I guess this is going to sound really random, but has anyone else ever just slathered some Elmer's glue onto their hands just to peel it off when it dries? I used to do this all the time as a kid. In fact, I was so obsessed with peeling off glue from my hands, that I would peel off the dried gunky stuff on the orange caps of the bottles too. Made the other kids at school think I was some sort of weirdo when I began obsessively picking at all the glue bottle caps in Art class. However, I would wait til I got home for the whole slathering the glue onto my hands thing.

Maybe I have a form of OCD that revolves this sort of thing? I do tend to peel at scabs on my body all the time, often leaving big open sores for a few weeks because I can't ever just leave them alone. I'm also too stubborn to cut my nails short in order to prevent this. Something about the cosmetic appearance of my nails being long is nice.

Not only would I put it on my hands but I'd coat the bottle with glue so I'd have more to peel and pick at. I'd also put it on pencils/pens or just make a puddle and watch it dry so I could peel it. I'm almost 40 and still can't be trusted around a bottle of elmer's.

anyone do the same with rubber cement (glue)? I can remember painting my desk at school with it and slowly peeling it away by rolling it into a large ball. Then you could bounce it or whack it off the chalkboard. I still recall this and I'm sure even at aged 49 I would do this again.

I used to do that when I was a kid! Although it was some other kind of glue, over in Britland.

I am old enough to recall the gastetner machine and getting high off the fumes on a freshly printed hand-out.
Thanks for this!

Oh no the gastetner - I'd get a migraine every time they handed out letters to take home for the parents at the end of the school day.

What about sniffing those markers that smelled either of strawberry, lemon, etc.?

I remember the distinct smell of fresh handouts from the copier that used alcohol to make copies. I'm not sure what type of copier it was. It looked very similar to the Gastetner but was power operated rather than hand cranked.

Yep, lol, did that with Elmer's glue, and with melted candle wax. (once it had cooled a little)
